Drying Conundrum!!

Hey folks,

I have nine really nice outdoor plants that I expect to yield anywhere between one and five pounds in total. THe problem is I may be living with my parents this fall, and they don't want me drying this much pot in their house (even though it's by far the most secure situation imaginable - rules are rules). Any thoughts for second best options? I could ask friends to borrow space, but I'd have to give away some of my crop in exchange and then there are trust issues. I thought about renting a self storage unit, but I think the bud might reek enough that someone would notice and I'd get busted. Anybody have experience with this type of situation? I'm looking for the best way possible, considering security (legal and from theft), quality of the product, convenience, and personal share (I'm trying not to give away too much of my crop). Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!!

you can back dry it .
brown paper bags in your closet or dresser drawer .
its wicked easy .
and it boost starts your cure .
it works great
its an alternative to hang drying .
and its quite stealthy i might add.
I have the same problem .
im giving you the advice and method that i use.
just keep an eye on your bags for mold an you should be fine .
you can even poke holes in the bag so it can breathe a little if your drying area is too humid.
goodluck

ps.
when your bud is drying and curing , it wont smell like actual bud for a while .
it will smell more like hay or fresh grass clippings. Sometimes even cat piss .
depends on the strain.

Well, I don't need to give any advice here seeing that Clementine has already beat me to the punch! :P

but yeah, Clementine is right about the brown bag method.

I just started using this method.. used it on my last harvest (Nirvana Ice).. and it worked great.

Also, he's correct about the buds not smelling like "bud" for a while after you've harvested the buds.

In fact, in my 5 years of experience in growing.. I've noticed that some strains smell stronger and more pungent than others.. and I've found that if your growing a strain that is very very stinky during flowering.. chances are (99% chance) that, that strain will also stink/smell very strong during drying/curing.. as opposed to a strain that may not smell hardly at all during flowering. If it the strain you have growing, doesn't smell hardly at all during the flowering process.. chances are again (99% chance) that, that strain isn't going to have that "bud smell" during its drying/curing process.

I could be wrong.. but.. I'm fairly confident that I'm right. 5 years of experience doesn't lie. ;)

peace..

Throw them in there loosely.

Sweet thanks for the suggestions. I don't want to dry too much pot in my house in any form, certainly no more than a pound. But I think what I might do is:

Dig a wide and shallow hole in the woods, and lay a tarp down on the bottom. Put the buds loosely in brown paper bags, and lay them out on top of the tarp. Then cover the top of the hole with another tarp, putting rocks down to secure the upper tarp. Then I'll cover that tarp with leaves and stuff so it's camouflaged. I think if I poke some strategically placed holes in the top tarp I could keep it dry but also allow some air flow so my precious buds wouldn't rot. Does this sound doable? Thanks again for the suggestions.

I couldn't do that myself I would be to worried about bugs getting to them, You really cant find a little nuk or cranny somewhere to stuff a few paper bags? maybe even in an old shed or between some bricks or anything really, as mentioned, the smell while drying it doesn't smell like weed - it really doesn't even smell suspicious , it is just like a grass smell.
