drying bud

ok so I understand the conventional drying and stuff, i know that you are supposed to leave it to dry in its own time and not try and accelerate it too much. my question is, why? lol. what will a fan blowing directly on hanging bud do exactly to the bud that is undesirable?

you want to dry slow for 3-5 days in a dark, 50% +/- rh room with some air movement. no direct fan blowing on the hanging herb, then finish curing in a jar. a fan will dry the herb too quickly if blowing directly on it.

A fast dry does not give the chlorophyll time to break down on it's own. Take your time, give it a good dry and a good cure after that and your weed will taste much better. :blsmoke:

I disagree w/ parts of both of the previous posts. I dry for 7-10 days aiming at 45-55% H 65-75 F. And I think the goal of drying is more about the conversion of sugars in the dying and hanging plant. And perhaps not over-drying the essential oils of the plant. And to remove moisture from the outer layers of the buds. The purpose of curing is to break down the chlorophyll and even out the moisture in the buds through "sweating them", jar curing them, w/e us kids do now..... Anyways that's my 5 cents.
