Nobody? I know there are others out there researching the same thing .
I am about 1 week away from harvesting my first of 4 plants. I realized that I need a place to hang and dry my buds while they are on the stem. I need to be able to control the lighting (no light) and I need to be able to control the humidity.

So I decided to create my own drying box. Here are the pictures that I have so far. I still need to put the electronics inside to control the humidity process but this is the completed box. I also still need to add the carbon filter to keep the smell down.

This box will work by automatically switching on the inline filter to pull air from the bottom of the box through the top and eventually out of a carbon charcol filter.

I use cardboard boxes with the wire coated in plastic you use for tying plants. I think cardboard absorbs moisture to be honest. Anybody that has worked with cardboard like opening boxes for stores knows it drys the fuck out of your hands.

I'm trying boxes for the first time. I put chicken wire in the box first to keep the air circulating around the buds and to help keep from getting moisture on the buds. It is the first time I've grown clones and didn't know I should have waited to plant it outside until June.
The plant started to flower, but wtf do I know about clones, I'm familiar with growing from seeds.
I decided to cut off the buds and dry them since the trichomes look great and they were turning amber on part of them. Going to let the rest go through the growing process and hang in September or October like normal.
I guess this is my science experiment. I did dry a bud and smoked it. MMM was very tasty and was a great high. Platinum OG is the strain.

Sometimes if you grow in a greenhouse or under a blue tarp makeshift greenhouse you can put them out early and harvest before they go back into veg. I tried this year and barely missed my window ending up with this last weekend. I had to harvest while trichomes are clear and I’m just gonna make some hash out of them though I left one of the larger buds to dry so I can sample what it’s like

So you dried and tried some sample buds that have a great high, great taste and have great trichomes, yet will need until Sept or Oct to finish...at which point you will hang them as normal?

Let's see these great sample buds that have 12 weeks ahead of them...

I'm quite happy with the setup I've used twice now. Using a 2.5x2.5 tent (I have a Gorilla but in this case you could go cheaper / thinner)) and an AC Infinity 6" fan w/ the newer smart controller and a 6" phresh filter. Just make sure you program the controller correctly - my first time I had the triggers set for temperatures where it ran too much and dried way too fast. But that controls your heat & humidity pretty damn well.

If you needed to add heat or humidity, route the intake near a heat/humidity source and use an Inkbird controller for them and then you'd be able to raise/lower both temp & humidity as needed. Total environmental control.

You could also look into options for humidity control that gets used for gun safes or high end pianos potentially as well.

my bro sez he read some where that the oils [or something] in bud melt plastic, i would avoid it, like cowboy sed carboard boxes are good i use brown paper wrapped loosely, but before u do any of this leave it in the place u grown it strung up with the can on and the lights off. [but u prolly already kno that] Trouble with that is u could be growing new plants instead of waiting for bud to dry, my bro keeps saiyin lets get a small 100mm can and fan and cut a hole in to the wooden wardrobe in my room "pine matured bud" but pine wardrobes are fuking expensive i dont wanna cut in to it, keep us posted on any ideas u find
terps are a heavy solvent!!
