Dry Ice Blaster

I haven't tried out one of Extraction Experts units, but did inspect them at the Seattle Cup and noted quality workmanship, as well as personable customer service support at the booth. My conversation with them was time limited, because there was a crowd trying to get their attention.

They no doubt have the most experience with the equipment and is who I would ask for their best process. Sometime that they are not manning a booth might be the best shot.

My own chilled extractions involve closed loop systems, and I opine that it is better to not extract the waxes in the first place, than to remove them afterwards. Using a -70C alcohol/dry ice bath for our butane storage tank, gives us a relatively wax free extraction.

It also dramatically slows down the extraction rate, so we have to use more and longer soaks to achieve full extraction.

Fadedawg I have a closed loop system and also a vac oven. I have been curious about incorporating dry ice into my extractions for some time now. Do you also use the same bath for the receiving tank during the extraction? As far as recovery do you have preferred temps for each end or do you use a pump? I only have a small unit (2.5 oz or so) and have yet to involve a recovery pump. I also run my vac oven at 115. I have been using my system for nearly a year now but would like to take the next step. I am not a vendor but do this in seek of the safest product to consume as possible. I also would like to remove the waxes without adding in yet another chemical that needs to be removed. I have heard of people using dry ice with their systems but was not quite sure how to implement it as it slows down the extraction significantly. I apologize for asking soo many questions but you seem to be the most knowledgeable on this site with closed loop systems.

It seems like what you are saying is that it might be better to use an alcohol/dry ice bath on the storage tank instead of blasting through the dry ice? That does sound easier. I found out that their dry ice kit is another small tube with filter which fits above main tube.

Where I put the lower collection tank and the storage tank, depend on what I am making.

I always at least put the storage tank in a conventional ice bath. If I'm making first quality vaporization material, I use the alcohol and dry ice to avoid winterization and retain more monoterpenes.

If I am making decarboxylated oil, I put the lower collection tank in 200F water, but if I'm extracting carboxylic acid, I don't put it in anything, other than occasionally set it in ambient water, to melt away the ice so that I can keep track of the level of butane in the collection tank.

Internal temperature plunges to around -30C from the evaporation, so no need to further chill it.

Since I haven't tried their method, I can't say my method is best, it is just what we use with the Terpenators.
