Drug War: The Numbers Don't Lie

$1,673.45 that is spent by our government each and every second of every day on the failed war against drugs, this years federal budget is 22.074 billion, thats BILLIONS, now compare that to the 18 billion that was spent on NASA. Thats right NASA with a 4 billion dollar smaller budget, that pays for every scientist, research project, petri dish, shuttle launch, fuel, satellite, THE HUBBLE TELESCOPE, the hopes and dreams of a hundred million children across the world, kids that stare bright eyed into the stars, children who are our future, your children, can you put a price tag on hope? Well our government has and they put it at right around 4 billion less than the need to imprison three quarters of a million of our fellow citizens for possession of pot A NON VIOLENT CRIME, not to mention the hundreds of thousands of other arrests for non violent drug offenses, so you tell me what did we get with our 18 billion we gave to NASA and education? What kind of impact do you think that had on our youth? You compare that to the over 22 billion we spent on just the federal portion of the war on drugs, and what kind of a dent did we make this year? Oh thats right drug use is stagnant the amount of people addicted to drugs is the sam as it was in 1913 the first year an estimate was made so from 1913 until the 70's roughly 60 years drug use stayed about the same, then in the 70's we declare war on drugs and start a forty year miserable failure a money pit thats cost over 50% more than the NASA budget for the same four decades, man on the moon, tens of thousands of scientific breakthroughs, the hopes and dreams of children, you weigh that against every botched drug raid that left a child dead or an innocent person victimized, or caused the unemployment of a fellow citizen, you weigh that and tell me where our money is better spent, on education or more cops?

I fell you 100%

When you don't smoke weed, you don't think about weed. You just think, "oh theres got to be some reason"

but then you start smoking weed, and realize there really isn't. This lifts the veil over your eyes and shows you how fucked up and crooked the government is. The way the gov is set up, things won't change for a while... So you have to just live with it, keep your head low, and vote!

Having been through our wonderful legal system for the last half year just trying to get to court, being required to show and pay for my attorney to show time and time again and facing 10-50,000 warrants being issued for me if I miss just one day, only to only be rescheduled ea time over and over, I'm starting to see the profit side of things.

It's not that they're just spending taxpayers money for nothing, they're also using that as an excuse to take money straight out of every "criminals" wallet and to set you up for more and more.

Think about all the property forfetures too, there's no end to the profitability side. They don't just take mansions from kingpins these days they take anything they can, literally they will take retirement homes from grandmothers on disability with glaucoma and try to pin distribution on her. And you don't even need proof of sales these days to get a huge sentence for dealing, they can and have claimed based on amount you grew that you couldn't have just taken it all yourself and they are continually getting away with it. Innocent until proven guilty except when it doesn't suit the states agenda.

Coke and opiates aren't even produced in the states. Our government allows them to enter. I know first hand. I'm a marine and spent time in Afghanistan and spent 3 months guarding poppy fields. My orders were to guard it as if it were my family's home. I agree there are drugs that can ruin lives and strip you of everything that matters. We live in the land of the free and i risked my life for that belief. I should be allowed to make that decision.
