Drivers and LED F series/H inFlux strips - best choices ??

Thank you @nfhiggs !! My thought was there's more surface area on tubing vs the c channel. But it was thinner than what I've been seeing around RUI on DIY strip builds.

I've ordered all the h-inFlux strips(40 - 3000k, and 10 - 4000k), they are due to arrive tomorrow. Drivers have arrived, and let the fun begin on building my first LED light.
Thickness is not what cools - its surface area.

The hinflux have come out a lot lower than expected. I'd use atleast 6-7 strips per 320 driver now.

10 Strips per 320 driver is what I'm going to do, and let's see how the numbers turn out. I will use a par meter to measure the lux from different distances.

@nfhiggs , What kind of spacing would you recommend between the double row led strips is a good distance? 3" from edge to edge of the tube?

If your covering a 5x5, just spread them out as evenly as possible over the entire area. With 22" strips I'd go two rows and 48 inches width. If I'm reading you correctly your going to use 30 strips total on 3 HLG-320H supplies, so thats two rows of 15 @ 3 inches center to center.

I'm doing 20 strips total on each light fixture with 2 HLG-320H-48B drivers(10 strips per driver). Two rows of the 22" strips @10ea(double row H-inFlux L09 strips). Mimicking Takeshy's light setup he did. 700watts at the wall, and 670mA per strip. What would be a good space on this setup center to center on each alum tube?

9 x 4 is 36 inches, plus 1.25 for each bar is right at 48 inches. Thats where I would go.

Thank you!! The bars are actually 1-1/2" wide x 1" tall. In the picture I posted it looks like 1-1/4". If the light I'm building works good for 4' x 4' foot print, I'm ok with that too. Somewhere in between 5' or 4' square will work. It seems to be trial and error and part of the fun!

48" square works great in a 5x5.

The first light is almost done. Just waiting on the "AC" bayite meter to finish my junction box. Did some testing so far with the temps. I ran the light for a 1/2 hr with 78F ambient room temp and no fan blowing in it. The strips reached 100-102f or 38-39c. The driver(s) temp was the same.

@Airwalker16 - Thank you!! Building my first LED light was a learning experience. There's a few things I'm going to change on the next light. I have all the parts here to build the second flower light now. I wanted to work out the "Bugs" first.

I would buy 25 strips to save some $$($3.70 savings on each strip for 25pc minimum). Maybe use the 5 strips for a veg light.

But it would cost $639.39 for the strips @25pcs, shipping cost $7.99 plus tax. I bought 40 strips, and 10 4000k strips.

Oh damn so you spent well over a grand. More like $1,250 on them strips.

Did you use like JBWeld on the channels to mount them? Why didn't you bolt them on to look cleaner?
Sounds about right. I was going to buy the spydrX light, so I'm well below my original budget. I like doing DIY projects.

The frame is built out of alum tubing - 1" x 1-1/2" x 1/16" thick. So when you try to screw it together, the tubing is not thick enough to hold the screws. It strips out. Because I paid $0.52' for the tubing is why I went this route. Locally I got a quote for alum C-channel 0.125 thick was going to cost me $170 for 80' or $2.125'. The adhesive I used is like a acrylic adhesive. Once it's cured( 4hrs ) its like it's welded. So I used screws to hold it in place while the adhesive cured. I can take a razor blade to the excess that oozed out. I have already started to get it off but it's a pain in the ass.

Overall it turned out really solid. I'm always open for new ideas to improve. Best way to learn is just do it.

It was just the light. They are the same.

Very nice job on the light, wondering what eficiency it is. Maybe 2.6-2.7 with all them strips.
