has anyone tried these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/100W-Full-Spectrum-LED-COB-Chip-Grow-Light-Plant-Growing-Lamp-50W-70W-110V-220V/313141409623?_trkparms=aid=111001&algo=REC.SEED&ao=1&asc=20160908105057&meid=c57c7ed7d50641a0b17ee0beda12d0c2&pid=100675&rk=2&rkt=15&mehot=none&sd=223290539700&itm=313141409623&pmt=1&noa=1&pg=2380057&_trksid=p2380057.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci:6cbff3b3-e6f0-11ea-acfc-56001ba7ed09|parentrq:2675ca901740a4b68cb6272dffffd030|iid:1 it appears that californalightworks use a similar driverless C.O.B in their solarxtreme lights. I know these are not as efficient as other diodes but I like that broad spectrum red peaking at 650nmand if they are as effiecient as T5 plant bulbs and last longer than I'm ahead in the game.

If equivalent to 50 70 and 100 that makes them about 6 watt LEDs. But looking at dimensions I see it makes sense that that is actual wattage from the plug. maybe wire them in parallel to make an array.

i cant find enough info on them to make a judgement. imo efficiency is just one of many factors. who cares if its not "as efficient" as long as they work.

Hi, I made a thread on these if you search for it. Short answer is they are approx 50% efficient when driven with DC and much less when driven with AC, store bought led lights are better than this now. They will fail in such a way that makes it difficult to tell how many leds are burnt out, and they leak high frequency (10-100s of khz) ac current to ground. Do they work, yes and work best when driven with about 100vdc or with lower voltage ac (variable transformer).

Edit: currently using them for veg lights, replaced my cfls, because idgaf about efficiency and when they burn out I can just replace them for $2.

there are probably better alternatives nowadays.

on the quick
same price, knowen datas, will take 6W easily.

the price for cooling is also a factor, especially for COBs.
Driverless versions would be a tad too dangerous for me, they dont have a electrical isolated driver.
im too curious about the tunable whites (Vesta ...Thrive or similar 0-10v tunable whites or Dim to Warm) and his tunable cct range... anyone tried the tunable whites?...thanks in advance...

...si Wilson por los likes desactivala... ;-)

PD... y amplio info... to Bro C ...they dont have a electrical isolated driver...ok but ...we can use "transformadores de aislamiento"... a little isolation transformer...bueno lo usamos algunos que sabemos de electricidad en AC...hay mas hardware de proteccion pero tambien sube el precio de la solucion... ;-)

i can imagine one of these big isolating transformers would do a better job then whats inbuild in the led drivers for sure.
have no actual overview whats the price nowadays for these units, as i said if you have one, perfecto :).
for the average user it would prob complicate things further... even its dam easy.

i saw youre writing a lot about raspi, am sure the raspian OS included browser is able to run google translate perfectly fine.
there are probably even cooler tricks he can do translating stuff for you if that works out technically.
dont get me wrong, just sounds you have a raspi laying around.
