Dried and cured bud turning white

I have a jar of flower which is approximately six months old curing now. It has been sitting in regular room light, no direct sun.

The flowers are turning from a deep dark greenish purple hue to completely white. It doesn't look like mold (although it could be) but I've never seen anything like it. The bud looks completely normal besides the color. No webbing or anything indicative of mold besides the smell.

It is bio diesel from 303 seeds and was definitely that chemmy smell all along but now it smells a bit like ammonia, which scares me a bit.

I know my trim job is lazy, who cares when I'm not moving any of it? Let me know what you guys think could've caused this color!

Hi Horsetooth,

So I am just now beginning to have the SAME problem as you but not nearly as bad yet. A few of my buds that have been in the jar for a while are getting a much lighter tint (they still smoke very well haha). I agree that it isnt mold or at least doesn't look like mold. I did hear that you shouldn't store them in light( my jars also see a lot of room light) so maybe that is the issue? You could sacrifice one bud by spraying it with a fungicide to see if the color changes back as a test. Wish I could help out more but I'm also scratching my head. Hopefully someone else can chime in!

Looks sun bleached to me. That will also kill the flavor.. Ammonia smell? I have no idea about that one, sorry. I'm no expert and I have very little experience with this sort of thing, especially inside jars as mine are all stored in the dark. imho it is a must. I have seen it happen with outdoor drying on occasion when I could not get back to it quickly enough. I would test for mold as stated above,

Personally , I would break out the scope / loupe and look them over very thoroughly.
Any fuzziness or black specks , send to the trash. Ammonia , chem smell can happen from some strains ( smells , like piss ) , but I'm more concerned about why it changed. Diesel strains definitely stink anyways.

Does it look like its passing into other buds with it or just 1 or 2 ?
My 6 month buds tend to darken sometimes , but never whiten. Give it someone you hate and then laugh at them.

All of the buds have turned completely white. I've got too much bud to be taking chances on mold, especially with asthma. I'm going to spray it with fungicide but whether it turns back or not I'm tossing it.

Jars were sterilized in a pressure canner.

All other jars are being hidden away now. This really sucks!
