Can anyone help me on this topic?
I always wondered how people who use big garbage bins indoors to grow, how do you deal with water runoff? Wouldn't it be a huge pain in the ass dealing with all that runoff? And where are you running your water off anyway? Is there a big bin that contains your whole room that you would place on your floor that you would have to empty every so often with bail buckets lol haha??? I use 3 gallon pots and dealing with runoff is a huge pain for me, i have to use 6 gallon enclosed pots over my 3 gallon pots to catch runoff and have to empty and clean every time i water... How do people with big huge indoor grows and big garbage bin pots deal with water runoff? The same way i do??? Putting a bigger garbage bin over the garbage bin your growing in? Can we start a topic on this please.. I know people use many methods for dealing with drainage but I'm a newbie when it comes to this especially if i ever decide to grow in garbage bins indoors. I'm sure there is info somewhere in these forums on this topic but i want it to be as specific as possible. Thanks

It might be dumb but I always move my 2 1/2 gal pots into the shower and water them there. Then let them drain for 15 minutes and you can take them out and put them back in the tent

Some people, create a water catchment system by either elevating plant pots so that they don't sit on the floor.

Or by redesigning the floor to incorporate a drainage system.

theres all sorts of ways to set up a drain system. flood trays set up just to drain are popular, esp with drip systems. i made a drain system with 5 gal buckets. this grow my pots are on top bc i had a couple in 7 gal smart pots, next grow im going to hang smart pots inside of them. or you can build a ramp across the floor to a sump then pump out....

i run into the same prob with 7-3 gallon pots, 4-1 gallon pots in my tent. its a HUGE pita to recover the excess drained water. now i water a litte of each pot, then circle back and water some more untill i start to see a little run-off. then repeat if needed.

ive used a syphon pump to get runoff out before. didnt work that great.

I use a hand syphon to water with.

I've built a raised platform that holds my 1mx0.5m drip trays at a slight angle and popped a hole in the drip trays to drain from.

When I water I use the syphon and place a 2litre jug under the hole in the drip trays. Water my plants in situ and they drain without any ballaches.

This is what I do. I read about what happens if water splashes on a hot HID light. I'm scared for my eyes!

Same here haha. I don't even like foliar feeding inside the tent cause I'm worried about that. But nothing like that has happened yet so far so good haha

I have a droppings pan for a rabbit cage on the floor it catches any runoff. something like this-----> http://www.ruralking.com/pan-dropping-plastic-rh242416hutch.html if you use a chemical fert and need a lot of runoff this works well but needs to be emptied if you really fill it up, I would just turkey baster it out into a bucket if that. I have been going organic lately and have not much runoff and no need to flush so it is no problem and evaporates in a day.

each one of my pots are elevated of the floor and sit on a wire grill so when i water/flush all i do is slide a small bucket under nice and simple
do you guys mind posting some pics if you can. i watered last night just till i had run -off. i like to water a bit more, but moving 7-3gallons pots every 3 days or so is hell on my screwed up back, and another 5-1.5 gallon pots.
