Dr Grinspoon. Indoor soil grow (My first grow)

My first grow. I had wanted some cheese but the shop didnt have any. They recomended these to me. Nearly passed out when i realised flowering time and i wanted a shortish indica, not a big sativa with a small yield but decided to give them a bash anyway.

Im using 11L pots.
250W CFL lights, blue for veg and red for flowering, not adequate i realise now but all i could really afford.
Soil is Biobizz all-mix
Feeding them with Biobizz Bio-Grow during veg then the bio grow along with Bio-Bloom when flowering.
My grow space is only 80X80X160 CM.

Started them off in peat pots, took a few days to sprout. Showed on the 5th of this month

Heres a pic 4 days later, the 9th

I put them in the main 11L pots on the 13th. When i saw how small they looked i thought id went a bit early

On the 15th they seemed to be doing ok. The glass things are aquabulbs, i thought they might help. They said they kept your plants watered for up to 2 weeks. Thought id give them a bash.
DSC00793.jpg

For the first week or so i had the light on 24hours. After that i put it to 18 on 6 off.

Fast forward to the 21st. Im now using an aquabulb in each pot. To my uneducated eye they seem to be doing ok, already got a lovely smell coming from them, noticable in my room when i havnt had the filter running.

On the 25th i decided to stop using the aquabulbs, the soil always looked dry and it was hard to tell if they were getting enough to drink. I took them out and fed them 1L each of water and a full dose of the bio grow, i had been building up to that, adding more as i went along.

I'll end this part with the last pics i took which were on the 26th. I like the look of the soil much more than when using the aquabulbs. The one on the front left has taken a stretch the last couple of days, its taller than the rest. I'll add some more pics soon and im always open to comments and advice.

Things seem to be going fine. Not had to give them any more water but think they will need a drink soon.
I took these pics tonight.

I have been forced to put them in the flowering stage early, things aint going well where i live, looks like i'll be moving out soon and i doubt the mrs will look after them, moving them will be tricky. The 100 day flowering is gonna to be a killer but i'll play it through to the end n hope for the best.

Cheers mate, iv been pretty chuffed with them for my first grow. They smell outstanding, especially the stems. Hopefully this 25% thc is true

In the pics i upped last night, how do you think the leaves are looking?
Some appear to be curling down at the ends, is that maybe a sign of too much water or am i worrying about nothing?

Thanks for your comments mate, much appreciated

100 day flowering man?

The Platinum OG Kush is 22 or 23% and its a 7-9 week strain. Ouch man. I've done Sour Diesel a few times (actually got a few going right now), but I just don't prefer the strain. Its still a A+ "boutique" strain. I dont know much about GrinSpoon though. Hopefully it works out good.

so far you look good though. good lookin out getting away from those aquabulbs.

I have no experience with CFL though. just be patient. over-fertilizing is a great beginner mistake. Hope you've done your homework, RIU has a TON of information, you just gotta set aside the time to pour through it. Do your own reading.

You want soil PH to be about 6.1 - 6.3 I think 6.3 is supposed to be ideal. Do you have a PH meter? I don't know much about the Bio-Bizz line, so I'm not sure what the NPK is. Just learn to feed the soil, not your plants. Learn to read the plants, not a label.

rock on.

they do look great still!! :D Watering is why the leaves are curling down. Your a new grower (this being your first "Legit" grow). Watering is a tricky
thing; especially for new comers like ourselves. I'm going to take a guess that you constantly are watering them; improper drainage; leads to the
top drying out faster then the bottom so you think your plants need water; thus making it hard for the roots to breath(Take in oxygen). That is just a
guess. My other guess would be that they needed water and leaves started to wilt; causing permanent leaf damage. They are looking good tho!! keep it up!!

Would love to see some updates! I just started my grinspoon...doing a journal on it, along with a bunch of other strains (Pineapple Express, Super Lemon Haze, )

I knew what was going to happen from the title, indoor dr grinspoon first grow. Says it all.

What happened is,
A. He chose an heirloom equitorial sativa as a first time grow &
B he used cfls and expected results while hurried indoors. Grinspoon and other similar sativas are super piccky. An indoor indica horticulturist can kill a pure sativa very easily . They need different things, they don't like nutes, or being moved, they need tons of root and plant space and go for a way long time. They can ripen in different rates even. They want dry conditions, intense light pulled further back, a more precise light cycle change to iniate and finish flower, and much different cycle of nutrients. This is like building a full blown aeroroponics system with all the gizmos when coming from soil. Things are different, and if you want more experience with sativas, go seed hunting for sativa doms instead of pure. They are more forgiving, shorter, and have a shorter flower cycle

@Bleedintears if you want more info look up equatorial sativas or check out dj shorts origin of blueberry, in it he talks about a sativa room, specially placed lights and movers light cycle etc. Pretty sweet stuff. I would love a sativa only room. Hehehe
Neways I'm rambling. Take care, good luck with the grinspoon

like sTONEY VIBRATIONs said, Grinspoon is beast plant to grow, and n00b mistakes kill it. Hell, I'm growing white rhino and I'm thrilled that I haven't killed her yet in my ghetto bubblebuckets. Pretty funny that OP didn't tell us what happened... did he disappear wtf?

Hey Buddies,
I'm not going to piss off the mods by posting other cannabis forum links here, so here's a nice copy and paste of some Tastey information

I decided to write a report on Dr. Grinspoon from Barneys as it really stood out amongst everything else. It is a reputed 100% sativa with very stickly thin tiny balls of lime green. The high was crisp, motivating and very strong, from the first toke you can feel it creep up behind your eyebrows where it stayed for a good 2 hours, the smoke itself was light and easy to inhale, the tolerance did not creep in at all with Dr. Grinspoon, it put you away consistently each time and it made everyone i was with feel good about themselves, cleaning up your head if that makes any sense which made you focus your energy more on a plan even if that was just walking down to the shop to buy a can of drink. I can't put the smell into words, but it was earthy and green with a hint of floral perfume, not smelly at all compared with others. The price was outrageous at 17e per gram but it was worth it.

Named in honor of our hero, the brilliant cannabis advocate, researcher and author Dr. Lester Grinspoon, this is a pure heirloom Sativa. The plant grows thin and tall, and requires a longer flowering time. When mature, the colas look like compact, green and red-brown beads, loosely strung on thin stems with a dusting of THC crystals. The fragrance off the buds is of sumac and lemon; the smoke is light and tangy with citrus and tropical fruit aromas. Dr. Grinspoon offers a strong, long-lasting, energetic and cerebral high. Old school Sativa of the highest order. type Sativa
GENETICS Heirloom Genetics
yield 350gr X m2
HEIGHT Grows Tall
flowering time 90 - 100 days
Harvest time End of October
THC 25%
CBD 0.4%

massive THC level paired with a low CBD = no couchlock..

Anyone know anything more about this expensive plant?
