SMELL-
Hash- Grape

Dominant smell of bud:
When I open the jar and just smell the buds it kind of has a poop smell to it. It sounds strange but it’s a “good” poop smell. When you break open a bud it smells like grapes and hash with a bit of sweet skunk in the mix also.

Associated smells of bud:
Earthy

TASTE-
Hashy/Fruity Grape

Dominant flavor:
Old school hash-grapes

Associated flavors:
-sweet skunk

Harsh/smoothness: (1-10, 1 being extremely harsh and 10 being extremely smooth) --
8

- Cough factor? : Yes/no ---
Both

BUZZ-
When I first read about this strain and that it had a smooth “Speed” like buzz, I was very skeptical about any pot having that effect. But after a lot of testing from a number of patients the verdict is in and Doc is right again. You can almost feel it right away, a very zippy but smooth buzz which lasts a couple hours and then tapers down fairly quickly and changes into a mellow body buzz that makes me sleepy. At first the buzz can leave some mental confusion and you can quickly forget what you were doing. But, after awhile it clears up and I like to get on some tasks and focus on them until they are done, which is easy with this one because you almost get OCD on it. My helpers did not report the sleepy feeling that I got, so it may just be me.
Of course it all depends on your tolerance…individual results may vary.

Profile—

Potency: (1-10, 1 being extremely weak and 10 being extremely potent)
8.5 - 8.75

Duration: (approx length of buzz, from first hit)
3-5 hrs
2 hrs of speedy buzz
3 hrs of mellow body buzz

Use: Daytime/Bedtime --Anytime

Munchies: Yes/no----
Yes.

Comments- This is a very interesting plant with a very interesting buzz and taste. As far as taste and smell go this is one of my Favorites of the Greenthumb selections. The buzz is very different then any I’ve had before and it hits harder then I had expected. One of my favorite things about this one is the bouquet it leaves in a room after you smoke it. If you leave the room for a few minutes and return the smell is like old school spicy hash, which kind of reminds me of Malawi Gold bud. You can also really taste that same flavor on the exhale…very yummy!

the good kind of poopy smell... lol.. is that the kind of smell from say a supermodels poop? lol...
What you dont like supermodels? lol. Your question reminded me so much of a friend of mine that i wondered for a second if you were him.

before i ever smoked pot, when i smelled a skunk it smelled terrible...now i wonder who has the good pot.How does something go from being "terrible" to "man that smells good"??? its a mystery to me.

Being that it is said to be all indica I could understand you being skeptical about a 'speed-like buzz'. Many sativas and predominantly sativa crosses I have smoked over the years have been like there was a bit of 'speed' in them, but I cannot recall feeling that in something that was totally indica.

Me either.
I had a patient/friend test it and his first words were: "whoa, someone just turned the volume up". that pretty much describes it.

While said to be pure indica there might be a very small amount of sativa in the genetics, which would explain the speed-like buzz. I believe I read somewhere, though my memory might be incorrect in this case, that it came from the Kashmir area. India is below it and India has a lot of sativas. In ancient archeological digs in Afghanistan and Pakistan it has been found that sativas once were widespread and the main, if not only natural species for the region, and it is believed that over time indicas from China, either naturally (wind, animals etc.) or due to man, or both, spread to the regions and ended up being the dominant species and that because of it some strains from the region that are believed, or thought, to be pure indica do have an ever so slight amount of sativa genetics left in them.

Big Purps might possibly be one such strain. It would help to explain the bit of a speed-like buzz that is mixed in with the body buzz and at least part of why it is useful for depression.

Good point.
I did read somewhere that the first plant named an "indica" was actually a Sativa. This could just be faulty memory but i think it was in india and thats why they called it indica????
Is that correct?

One thing for certain is that to me, it looks like it is indica only. but as you said it could be in its genetics somewhere.

Dr G,
Hey I know you are on to bigger and pricier genetics with the G13 and I'm following you there... But with the Big Purps, do you recall how tall they got and/or how much stretch they did from veg to flower? Also, did you clone them and if so, were they good cloners?

Thanks, Tony

I cant remember the exact size but they were about 36 inches tall form the floor. Not that big at all and not a lot of stretch either. I did clone them and they cloned pretty easy. It is an odd plant and I dont think i ever got it dialed in. It always looked like it needed something but i couldnt figure it out, although it did yeild pretty good. It is a very tasty plant and i would recommend it...and its on sale!
