Don’t cure in a tent with exhaust fan running.

I’ve done several tests to figure out why I’m having too fast of drying problems and narrowed it down to running the exhaust fan like a grow is in full bloom. It drys out the plants even with a humidifier at 65%-70%.

Most people try to exhaust the air from a grow tent 3x a minute when growing. So I figured I’d leave that be after chopping and just try to regulate the RH with a humidifier.

You only need a tiny bit of air exchange or use a Rubbermaid container and remove the lid so often. it’s going to impact the drying and smell greatly. The plants stem/flower RH is much higher than the room as most stems drip when cut so when that air gets exchanged quickly it will dry the product faster.

Anybody else notice this?

Is your humidifier set to 65-70% or is your room RH reading 65-70%? (Big difference between the humidifier thermostat and a separate hygrometer.)

You haven't given enough information for someone inexperienced. I would not tell a nooby to put freshly cut buds into a sealed container. Maybe after they have reached a certain dry-ness but certainly not right away. That would be a breeding ground for mold!

It really comes down to controlling the RH of the room itself.

Room RH, without ac system. Obviously not into a bin from chop, but I’ve done it as soon as 48 hours after a wet trim.

I’m just trying to warn others of exhausting too much air even with enough RH will dry the product too fast and take most of the smell with it.

Whats the best way to dry in a tent then? SWIM was planning for this and has a 3x3 tent with a 3 foot wide mesh drying rack that fills the tent out. Several years ago he ruined his bud with bud mold and it seemed like wet hay ugh

If I wanted to dry as you've described I would use an inkbird humidity controller, a small humidifier and a clip fan in the tent, no external air (in or out), good luck

Edit: a 3-foot net in a 3 foot tent doesn't allow for much air movement. I would hang the buds from strings instead for best results

True... I run my exhaust on the lowest setting during drying. Full Blast would dry them too fast..

Maybe it would be best to use a small extraction fan with scrubber on a very low setting? There's room for small clip fans. SWIM wanted enough space to easily dry ~2lb at a time. There's a lot of surface area with the mesh racks.

Btw it is a round unit in a square tent. Also the tent is just slightly over 3ft x 3 ft inside and the mesh drying rack is circular and is 35".
