Does This Look Ready?

This is day 58 of flowering, the strain is brainstorm from dutch passion. Any opinions? I'm not much of a photographer, hopefully this pic is ok.

I know there are guides about trichomes and hairs and colors and what not, and I have read them, but I've never grown before so I was hoping someone experienced could take a look at this plant specifically and give an opinion based on the look of it :)

what do the trichomes look like? you need a microscope from like radio shack or a jewelers loop to look at them.

but i gotta say that looks so good and frosty well done man. I wanted to see a grow of this for a while and now i know its good.

what what your setup?
light?
nutes?
soil or hydro?
veg period?

wow that is a beautiful bud

if it is not ready, then it is real close. most pistils are wilted, not the only to tell, but the only way that we can tell by pic,

i would let it go for 3-4 more days then chop the lady

i only used a scope on my first grow. never used it since. if you look at the harvesting section fdd2blk gives a tutorial on knowing when your bud is ripe just by looking at it, you should check it out. everyone harps that you need a scope, i disagree.

edit... i should have read the post better, you probably have read it

Thanks, I actually have a microscope, the trichs are still clear or cloudy, but I have noticed that the weed I buy rarely has amber trichs, even when it is really good smoke. My light set up has been a mix of 400w hps and 1000w hps when its not too hot outside, the girls are stuck in a closet so heat can be an issue. They are grown in soil and fed miracle grow and mollasses. I know some people hate on miracle grow but I figured the npk ratios are really the important part aren't they? I only have one brainstorm but I also have one each of super lemon haze, alaskan ice, and big bud. And a few autoflowers going too... maybe I'll post some more pics later.

I actually did read some posts from fdd about going by the look, that is good advice though thanks :). I am a bit conflicted now though cause it seemed like he really recommends waiting longer but I'm thinking the brainstorm is looking pretty nice even though it's just past 8 weeks.

yea man cause that looks so good. God i wish this stuff was legal so i could buy some of the buds off people on here lol. How is the alaskan ice going? mine was a weird one that like grew huge like a bush but then flowered so so so so slow and really never formed buds. It was taking too much light and shading the rest of my plants which were normal so i chopped the bemoth and made hash out of it. a shame too cause i wanted to try its potent weed.

My alaskan was stunted early on after one of its baby leaves was damaged. It ended up bouncing back but was shorter/smaller than the others when lights were switched to 12/12. It was also slow to start flowering and now looks very premature compared to the others but has really filled out size wise. The cola is really fat now and its super hairy but they are all white.

First of all, she looks great! Now, I may be the only one to say this, and I know it's just one picture to look at, and the pistils are turning, etc, but to me she just has the look that she could use a tad bit more time to "fill in" and have that "ready look". Don't get me wrong, she's of course close... But, almost ready isn't what you're after.

Jact was right on, there are many threads, guides and info here, and yes, I know you have read some. I don't know who is was that said it like this, but when I read it I thought the description was perfect. His advice, and I paraphrase, was that you just can tell when it is ready. Of course, he had a cpl of pics to illustrate his point. I guess my point is, in a long winded way, that if you wonder if is is ready, then it is not. You will know, first grow or not if you have read up.

Anyway, just the opinion of a total non expert here...

Thanks for the compliments :). gman I think you're right, my heart is telling me to wait but the pothead in me wants it cut yesterday :P. I'll take some more pics in a while for anyone interested in the other varieties. They're 'asleep' right now and I just snuck in for that first pic.. I used my cell phone for enough light to focus it a bit then used the camera flash. Does anyone know if its bad to take pics during their dark period? I took a few shots and I figure that can't really hurt it, but I don't want to overdo it

i think its fine to take pictures. I never had any problems with a little light during their dark time. I never have more then 5 mins tho.

I know what you mean muggg. I only grow a few plants outdoors a year anymore, and not even every year, but each time it's the same thing... When will they be ready? This year I'm a tad tight on time to boot, and that ramps up the impatience!... lol Geez, now I'll have to subscribe to see just how many tell you it's ready or close...

for being advertised as one of the strongest breeds, the crystal production seems lacking at this point, but there is lots of hairs and its getting beefy so im hoping for the best
