does PH really matter?

i was just wondering if it affects the plants in anyway. cause i had a plant grow without testing ph or testing the ppm or whatever its called. and i grew a pretty healthy plant. for most of the growth i didn't have nutes so i just used epsom salt. i also use filtered drinking water from the sink.

Ph contributes greatly to nutrient uptake. Though tons of growers never ph and will argue against it, it is a very essential factor in cultivation.

The reason that we keep the pH of our hydro solution in check is so all nutrients in the soup are in a form that is available to the plant. If the pH is out of range, then some of the nutrients that are there will combine into a compound that the roots can't eat.

No, it isn't necessary to check it, it's a method of optimizing your production.

For soil grows, especially in the ground, you don't need to adjust it, but you may grow better plants by checking it. For hydro grows, checking pH is much more important to success, although water with nutes in it is usually a pH of less than 7.0 and that will grow pot.
