my room is complete now sealed all the edges but my prob is the door has like 1mm gaps ive put weather strips already(foam-like material w/ tape) and rubber weather strips here are too damn expensive $15 for a pack of 2meters (really can't afford it right now, my closet doors are 6Lx2W)!

so my room now is like 95% lightproof, when i'm inside my room it feels like nighttime in the woods if u know wut i mean

and im sooooooo broke now i cant buy more stuff:-( i live in a 3rd world hope u understand.

so the question is.. will a 95% lightproof room work?

You wont need it right away but for flowering you will definitely need 100% lights off. You might as well do it right the first time. If not you will have just wasted all of that work. So if you can veg for now then its fine but when you flower you need to take care of it. Good luck.

I grow in a bedroom and I have light leaks and I have yet to see hermies. Just my opinion but I think most lightleak problems are in tents and boxes. Dont worry about that small stuff. You can always hang a sheet up to diffuse the light.
Besides that hermies are no big deal unless you are trying to sell it for top dollar. I have made some seeds lately and seeded weed rates right up there with sinsemelli in MHO

I think you'll be fine. Unless you are shining a bloody great big 20,000 lumen torch at the gap I can't see any problem. Just throw, or pin up a bedsheet over the gap, ghetto, but it'll work.

Good luck.

thanks bro! btw im not gonna sell it, just for personal use but i want the best out of it :bigjoint: would little light leak cause much of a problem? hermies? imagine a normal night time outside without artificial lighting just the moon and the stars @ 1/32 strength thats what my leak prob is:wall: 97% light leak now still finding ways to fix it

Light leaks during veg can be okay. While it is best to give them that full darkness if you're gonna go 18/6, it should be basically the same as them being on a 24/0 light schedule if the window was leaking light all throughout the 6 hour "dark" period. Imagine plants being outdoors in mother nature. They get about that during summer, and then at night they still have summer skys which are light all night, the moon which puts out light, ... Your light leak is about the equivelent of that. - op Mazar i Shariff - https://www.rollitup.org/marijuana-plant-problems/377764-light-leak-during-veg-caused.html

im about 98-99% and no issues. 23 watts of light is what it takes to effect the plants. get a light meter and turn off the lights i guess.

Most likely your females are pollinated and will begin producing seeds. You can also pick off the sacks from the hermie to reduce amount of pollen or chances of pollination (though some argue its futile and you should indeed cull males and hermies).

my room is 97-98% light proof now very very small light leaks from the door, fixed it with mounting and duct tape, cant do anything about it now but its effin dark inside i cant see nothin even bumped my head on the reflector lol will this work for the whole grow? im not using feminized seeds but whats the % of having hermies with so little light leaks? ive read that many factors are associated with having hermies, not just the lightleaks but i will be extra careful though

darker is always better but sometimes you cant get all the pin holes and cracks just try your best as far as hermies this can encourage it but wont be the only reason 9x out of 10

I have full moons here where It's bright enough to go without a flashlight comfortably. I think hermies are more from other bad growing habits most of the time. It's alot easier to blame a hole in your tent, than accept you did something wrong. My setup has some very minor light leaks, no problems with my last harvest. If it scares you alot, thumbtack a blanket over it for the dark periods.
