Does Fox Farm Suck?

I say they change the formula! The good stuff didn't have twigs in it! It has twigs in it now! At first I thought it was a bad batch now I think they change their formula and didn't tell no one didn't put it on the bag thats worst than putting out bad shit down right dirty and almost criminal!
Blah blah blah, quit talking bullshit. "It has twigs in it now...OMG... the twigs fucked up my plants...evil fucking twigs". Reality: what you're saying makes no sense. Yup, they changed the formula and didn't tell anyone... it's a huge conspiracy and you're not supposed to know. I'd fear for my life now if I was you.

Come on. Other people besides cannabis growers use Ocean Forest, interestingly enough. And do you think anybody on a tomato, rose or other legal plant growing forum is going on about how FF secretly changed formulas and fucked their plants up? I doubt it. And what logical reason would there be for them to do this? You realize that a number of agricultural products, including many of the ingredients in OF, are by-products from other industries?
If you opened the bag of OF and there really was some issue which was evident then why would you even plant into it?

Then you have folks like this:
i hear good things from some but some say its organic-ness dropped their final weight by about 15% over the use of synthetics. theyre great if you like natural and organic, but you just have to figure out what you like.
Uhhh... yah... I am sure they dropped their "organic-ness" by 15%. Right.

Honestly, I don't check ppm, tds or ec. Only pH. I use FF soils along with their line of liquid and soluble nutes. I don't flush (yet). And I do use CaMg+ and Bud Candy. I follow their schedule and everything comes out perfect depending on the plants I grow. Certain plants grow better for me. The "indoor" class of plants.
dam bro ur on the exact feeding i am fox farm liquids and soulubles and CaMg and bud candy great combo but i use happyfrog soil not as hot and i can feed more ime using rrots organic right now to try it out

Hey guys I had a little bit of trouble with the f.f. soil so I switched to Sunshine with a 30-40% pearlite. It has nothing in it so you can use your own amendments or just start feeding right away with whatever you are comfortable with. Also I spent a little more on the H&G line and that is showing me much better results so far.

So the twigs are new? All I'm saying is that it is different and you can tell by looking at it. And a lot of grower are having problems not just me!

The ph is lower soon as you open the bag. Should it be like that?

Uh-huh and no offense but a lot of 'growers' don't know what they are doing. I have had issues too until I realized that organization and planning were just as important as knowing what has to be done and why.

Here are some photos of Ocean Forest straight out of a new bag, purchased on the East coast. I took them because someone else was insisting that the OF on the east coast was 'barky' and so much different from the OF of the west. Other people insist that Fox Farm soils are only made in one place, in CA.

So what's wrong with this picture? Even if there were a few 'twigs'... so what? That would be organic matter. OF is an organic potting soil. I have a bag of pure Alaskan humus and let me tell you that has some twigs, pulled out a big stick about the size of my pinky finger. Still isn't a problem, when I find them I break them up... and they break up very easily because they are pretty decayed.

Now here are some of the biggest 'twigs' I found in the bag of OF. Is this seriously what you have an issue with? I am waiting for someone for take a photo of their 'West Coast OF' so I might be able to compare.

haha its the same trust me. lol
A wierd story about FFOF though, a couple days ago I threw a cigarette butt into a pot on my porch that had some left over FFOF in it. Long story 3 hours later I came outside and the soil IN the pot, was one massive charcoal...smoldering and everything. Ended up pouring water on it and putting it out.
lol now thats some hot soil :P

Im sure that every bag can not be the same. Some shipments sit outdoors for an unknown amount of time. some bags may have a few more twigs than others. But im pretty sure its reputation for success is far too strong to say FF 'sucks'. I have had nothing but success with fox farm ocean soil.

Miracle grow has twigs too and it worked great for me in my first grow. I think the whole twig problem is an excuse for sucking at growing weed. Twigs just make the soil more natural for the plant.

I've never used steer manure but yes miracle grow works great outdoor, if you get miracle grow that is not the organic one just make sure you flush it out, because it has chemicles in it. After you flush you can go ahead and mix in you steer manure if you like. Keeo us posted it it works for you.

OP is an idiot, how did you figure fox farm was the fault, when your nutrient mix's ppm before watering was low but the run off was high? And didnt even test your soil before jumping to dumb conclusions.:dunce:

I'm in much better mood! Here are some fresh pic's looking a lot better. I feeded yesterday back to back cuz I didn't feed enough the last time I make sure this time giving'em 2tsp Tiger Blood 1 tbs big bloom and 1 tsp of grow big never give'em 2 tsp in flower like the chart says and on top of all that 1/2 tsp of Beastie bloomz! The ph was still a little low so I put a cup of lime in the soil so next time it will be there. Thats a total of all most 3 cups of Soil Dr. lawn lime in every 5 gallon pot? The 3rd pic is good for my pc wallpaper. When you grow with ffof it like a guessing game good luck!

it sounds to me like its your soil to blame for your high ec, not foxfarm's nutrients that you add. fox farm kicks ass

there are a lot of overfertilised soils out there, inexpensive stuff for tomatoes and the like own brand stuff as well, some are poison and vary from batch to batch, Westlands MP with added john innes can be poisonous at times so there is no proper quality control

I use FF, Frog, or whatever is cheap for other plants. Never had a problem, but I'm way easy on adding nutes as well. I grow the MJ hydroponically and I'm not a big fan of FF's nutes for hydro. But it's really more of a preference with cost as a factor.

so first of all before you talk some shit read what i said. i never said they dropped their organic-ness by 15%. ill say it again, the organic soil, being organic... with use of organic FF products dropped the final yield by 15%. so before you go smoking out your ass, check your literacy skills.

really it was that hard to understand. i thought it was a wide known fact that organics dont by any means get higher yields than synthetic systems. buddy if only you could convince the world of your thoughts. maybe then youd make a living at this.
