does clipping fan leaves really enhance bud growth ?

i was just wondering about this because my friend was telling me that he did that to his last plant throughout the flowering stage n it made his buds more "juicy"..any info on actual experience ?,, or any advice on the subject ?..

How would he know if they were more "juicy" than if he had not clipped the leaves? Did he have a control plant that kept it's fan leaves to compare that was less "juicy"?
If anything, clipping the leaves would rob the plant of the nutrients contained within and the light that would have been absorbed if they had been left alone.

less leaves = less growth

the plants leaves are like solar panels, the more leaves, the more energy, the more growth, some people trim leaves, but only to stop spreading of diseases, and to increase light to lower branches who have been blocked off...

they nailed it, the fan leaves are the main and most effecient energy source for your plants. If you remove them you just have less energy for bud growth........

actually.... clipping some fan leaves can be benificial as long as you dont over do it. exposing bud sites that were otherwise shaded will increase your final yield in some circumstances. i dont know about making the buds "more juicy", but i do know that on a stocky plant with lots of shaded budsites, if you cut your leaves partially to expose the shaded buds you can have positive results. make sure to leave over 50% of the leaf as it can still function and still allow light to penetrate. just a suggestion.

Actually you should cut off all those lower shoots so there are no shaded shoots so the plant can focus it's energy on growing juicy dense nugs only..........

on larger indoor plants i sometime trim fan leaves so lower branches get light. im now doing sog with lowwy #2's so no need to clip.

i clip some fan leaves but only to let the light come into the lower nodes. this mostly happens with my more indica strains cause thier so bushy lol

i did that my first grow added another month to my grow stunted the shit out of them

yeah, you can trim to let light into obstructed bud sites, but I always try to tuck the fan leaves out of the way first if I can

Yeah I heard when u cut them it helps the plant grow faster I have three I planted like a week ago or some thing and I cut the leafs off one of the plants and left the other ones alone

you guys, those fan leaves getting light is more important than the lower bud sites(imo), they are the main and most effecient energy source, sure the small ones will get more light, but at the expense of your main cola. If you must do anything tie them out of the way, it takes a piece of string and a piece of tape and takes about 10 seconds.....its a much much better option. or get sidelighting, which is the best of the options. which you do is up to you, but you'd just be hurting your plant for very little gain if u snip off the fan leaves.

to the last post, you planted a week ago and cut the leaves off? what do you mean?

yupps bro, im all ears...but what i was talking about was that my friend was telling me that if you cut the tip of the fan leaves off it concentrates the growth of the plant more on the buds than the leaves..i guess. but my friend could js be a idiot on the other hand..haha . so yeaa. but im not going to even take that risk..n if you are js clipping the leaves for light,, then js start LST!! n that way you get the light, n you wouldnt have to harm tha plant...
