Does anyone use a manual tortilla press?

I was thinking I may try my hand at extracting some resin. Don't want to jump in. Aside from a hair straightener, I see some people have used electric tortilla presses.

I was thinking a cast iron manual tortilla press heated in the oven would probably work.

Has anyone here used this approach?

You need consistent heat. If you’re into diy and have the skills you can build one yourself like I didIMG_4624.jpegIMG_4625.jpegIMG_4626.jpegIMG_4627.jpegIMG_4648.jpeg

never heard of a cartridge heater, but I see now what they are and they are not too expensive..... what about temperatures?
rheostat on the heater and check manually? Is that how that works?
I see now.... Inkbird , also available rather inexpensively ....

Do you have a build thread on this? I'm super curious about the components as I have no idea about the working of a press. Well, I know heat and pressure, but the actual specifics I'd like to see up close and personal. If you don't mind, of course.

@ElmerS , Have you looked at

This might be less expensive and still give you what you want. It a fairly new method that's meant to be done in your kitchen. They have some new procedures.

“ out of the blue “ YouTube just decided to “recommend” a 41 minute long video, entitled, “DIY “Rosen press and plates”

at seven seconds in there is a very detailed table of contents… I have not watched it yet, but this might be exactly what you’re looking for! And me too.

I'm not into presses, more lab type stuff. I like to make quick wash and distill the alcohol out.

You could even use a heavy duty bench vice as a press. Take of the hard jaws and mount your plates there.

I do not have one but I’m working on it. I got all the info from google but the wiring can be confusing so I made some videos on it. I’m just working on editing, I get a lot of questions on it.
