Does anyone have any experience with using solar panels with there grow room or even for personal use? Is it better to be off grid or on grid? From my understanding the only good thing about off-grid for growers is the security it gives that no one knows exactly how much you are using up. . . Also I am using 220v to power my lights rite now. I was told that only above 10kw inverter or solar system would be able to feed power to my lights (I'm only getting a 4kw solar system). Will I have to switch everything back to 110v? . . .I am running 2 thousand watt lights in budding room with AC, dehumidifier and all. In the Veg and Mother room I have about 600w in light and fans. My electric bill with everything running and my living in the house is about $500. I would like to expand my grow from here but I don't want to be paying out my ass for electricity and I don't want to draw attention to my grow. I'm pretty sure I will be going off-grid for security purposes. . . I am researching all the parts and I will buy them all separately and put it together with one of my handy friends. I just need to know if anyone has any experience with these systems. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you

Maybe I should stay on Grid. I am reading that there is a lot of problems with the battery like loss of power when using off grid. DO I really need to stress so much about the electric company or anyone else seeing how much electricity I am using?

It is a lot more expensive to run batterys you are better off running a grid tide system

i dont know if it helps but have you heard of solar channeling or fiber optic lighting? the solar channeling uses reflective paths to bring in extra light. also there is fiber optic lighting which uses a parabolic sun collecting dish and focuses the light down a fios cable, with a light outlet with some sort of diffuser. Just saying this may reduce your Power consumption and bring you closer to the goal of battery powered rooms. Also golf carts have nice batteries FY (electric golf carts)I

just pay your bill on time .. if i lived in the country in bfe and was doing a huge grow, then i would look into solar system. plus i know they are not cheap by any means.... i know friends in hawaii who use them to run there whole house. i think they invested 250k for the whole system.
