Does anyone actually believe Ahmed built the clock himself?

I recently built myself a badass power supply for cheap thanks to China. 0-20A, 0-50V, constant current/constant voltage digital control, programming, etc.

It's amazing what's out there these days.

I got it from heathkit. Remember them?
Oh sure... I remember kits from other companies (local) were more popular, though.

Now, one is limited mostly by imagination. Production is just a few mouse clicks and emails away.
BTW got pics?

I remember when Radio Shack had everything you needed.
Now it is just a bunch of crap and toys
I always liked Radio Shack...they were my go-to when I knew I had to obtain some obscure electronic thingees hard to get elsewhere.
I think that Sprint is taking over the few remaining stores after bankruptcy...it will not be the same. It should be even worse.

Sprint (S) will take over up to 1,750 of the stores acquired by General Wireless, which is owned by hedge fund Standard General. The wireless carrier’s outlets will be co-branded with RadioShack.

Radio shacks entire inventory of electronic components could fit in a very small section of the store. The other 90% were toys, batterys and electronic crap. I think that and over expansion is why they went out of business.

You can thank Al Gore for that. He "took the initiative in creating the internet", after all. Coupled with "free-trade", that pretty much killed the boutique hobbyist industry.

I cannot get a resistor or IC "RIGHT NOW" on the internet
I know...neither can I. BUT you can get shit to your door in 2 weeks or so.
If one really wants it now, there are still some places. For me, I could go to Electrosonic or some ma&pa outfits (but they are disappearing, too).
I've basically adapted to a Chinese shipping timeline.

No, but here is a link to the controller I used: http://www.gearbest.com/development-boards/pp_152942.html?currency=USD&gclid=Cj0KEQjw35-vBRD3qKz8hPezlIIBEiQAOeKNrpyMyTKwyT4avOvAB5Fbvt13j74Fcl9dKNjrTBahPzAaAmhZ8P8HAQ

All you need is a DC power source from 13-62V. I wanted mine up to 50V, so I rewound a microwave transformer for 55V and slapped a bridge rectifier on it. Doesn't even need a smoothing cap. Make something to mount everything to, and that's it. Really, all I did was plug a few things together, and bent a 1/2 open case out of sheet metal. Put a heat sink on the rectifier and added a fan.. Done. I spent less than 80 bucks. I only had to buy the rectifier and controller.

I too miss the old Shack. At least I've got a Frys Electronics near by.

No alternatives around here other than desoldering components

they have hybrids of both. In fact, just on the other side of the river from their capital Khartoum they have a large livestock market where they sell camels to Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
Which ones do you like more though? These are the important questions.

Clockmed Mohamed has traveled to Sudan for a personal meeting with the genocidal terrorist Omar al-Bashir, who was close personal friend to bin laden

Damn that last pic isn't good. But I feel that the boy could have built the clock himself. I am a electronic engineering tech. I see these kind of things all the time, and foreigners are real good at electronics for the most part. I can see him making that clock himself with no problem.

but he didn't. He took the plastic casing off an alarm clock, and then reassembled the pieces into a briefcase.
Clockmed is a fraud. He tried to take credit for somebody else's clock.

I was wondering why this got such attention, the child brought a briefcase to school that turned out to be an alarm clock dismantled and put back together. It went off in his class so the teacher called the police to inspect because it is not legal to bring bombs or hoax bombs in..

I think they did what should have been done, but then I found a few different videos and articles describing exactly what clock this kid took apart and put back together in a briefcase.

I personally believe it is blown this big for a reason.

Does anyone honestly believe this kid deserves to go to the whitehouse for this? google offers.. space camp etc. I don't and it doesn't matter what color or creed he comes from.
They posted photos of him hugging a war criminal and mass murderer (the president of Sudan, convicted in World court of genocide) today. This is all just a little too weird not to be a hoax. He didn't build a clock at all, anyway. It was a clock before he removed the housing. Claiming he's some sort of prodigy is bullshit.

Did you come here to repeat what I say, and then steal my thunder?

IF Clockmed was in Afghanistan right now, he would be chained to a bed getting raped by one of Obama's allies
