Howdy,
Ordering a lumatek 600 dial a Watt ballest tomorrow. Is it worth the effort to order the 240 watt power cable and the 10 ga
wire and 240 receptacle and 30 amp 240 breakers? Im going to have to fish the wires from the breaker box and drill thru the floor to get the wire to my second story room anyway, cuz I dont trust most of the upstairs being on one 15 amp breaker.
It will be about a 20' run. Also is it possible to hook up a 110 to the 30 amp 240 to run fans and other things?
Im thinking about the 30 amp breakers, but do they make a 15 or 20 amp in the 240 and if they do which would be the best to use?:-P Thank you for your help.

I don't think it's going to save you any money on your bill. You get charged by the watts and that stays constant for both voltages. I believe 240 allows you to run more on a breaker by lowering amps, (Watts/Volts=Amps) so 1000w/120v=8.33amps and 1000w/240v=4.16amps.

If the 600w is all you have plus fans and shit, you should be fine with 120v 15amp as long as the grow gets it's own breaker. It all depends on how much wattage you'll be running. Bigger breaker is always safer and so is lower amps. My 2 cents...if it will always/for a while be for growing, go 240v. You can use the formula for all electrical things to make sure you don't overload your breakers.

Tags420.....Thanks for you Info, I think after reading what you have to say, that it may not be in my best intrest to buy all the extra duty wire and breakers to run my temporary room.
If its not goinging to be cost efficient or any safer, whats the point. I should only have the 600w, a small fan and a scrubber fan, on this circut anyway.:-P Thanks again for your time
