There's really no point to cooking your soil if you plan on feeding with bottles. I would say just go ahead and feed with 'em.

If you are seriously thinking about going organic, and want to learn more about cooking and/or recycling your soil. Start following @Rrog and read everything he has to say about ROLS. The guy is a menial genius.

first of all, NEVER go by the instructions... you will overfeed them, guaranteed.
I'd do half of whatever the hell they tell you, and DONT feed every water, they like to claim that you can.
It's SO much easier to just build the soil and let the plant eat at the buffet under it's roots...
but I gotcha man, some people like their bottles for the "easy-ness" appeal to it.
I would advise to do a weekly irrigating on them if you use those...
flood the media every week, three diff waterings, an hour apart.

I enjoy building my soil up from all dry amendments, letting it activate for a month or two, then feeding with mostly only water. takes some research and planning but it's very doable

it's really not that hard, the most challenging aspect of it is simply ascertaining the products to begin with.
if you are interested I can give you some proven water-only recipes.
If you are really interested in growing quality herb, the true secret is in the compost and vermicompost.
No doubt.

in my mind feeding with bottles is much more challenging, for the reasons he already experienced, you follow the damn directions and it pisses off your plant.
