Do you do this before harvest?

I had been contemplating 48 Hours of darkness leading up to harvest and I did it on my OG Kush Banana harvest. I like the results but have no real benchmark because this is my first OGKB. I have heard this makes the plants pump out all the energy they have left and really plump up the buds.

Anyone really do 48 hours? I have heard 24.
Does anyone do any extra darkness?

Hey jester, some people do 48 hrs, I just give them 12(the night), the only reason (I have found) to leave this darkness is to drain the plant of liquids to put most in the roots. So by my reconing 48hrs of dark would just leave the moisture in the roots,,

the study used 72 hours of light that i saw and they had a thc increase up to 30% in the plants, i dont know anything about the water, i harvest when they are thirsty.

I do 24 hours. You will NOT get an increase of anything close to 30% increase in thc though.

The point of this is to make your buds more resinous afterwards, but many people argue this.

Haha wtf i smell total bullcrap, 30% is a absolutly massive increase, at best you can expect 5-10% increase IMO.

Last time i chopped my plants, i ended up taking a while, and leaving some for a couple days in the dark with out water, and i noticed quite a bit more resin and trichomb production, they seemed much more frosty. That is only a visual proof, so who knows, i will leave my next crop for about 24 hours in the dark probably.

if its producing more resin how is up to 30% increase in thc bullshit? im not talking about increasing potency but the actual amount of thc. and also i read that from a study where they tested there samplesw not just guessed about it.

Thanks for the input. I gather that it may increase potency but really just increases the visual appeal by getting frosty. Its always easy to move frosty product. When my Blueberry is ready I will try 1 with 24 hours and 1 with 48 hours of darkness. Will post results, but be patient, it will be 7 weeks.
