Hey guys, I ran into a couple of people who tell me co2 extractions are the way to go but when asking some more questions they have various methods of extracting with co2 that has been pissing me off.
First method I've heard (I have a problem with this method)
Stoner said that it's as simple as flipping a tank upside down and leading a 1/4inch hose to a hole into a mason jar with a smaller vent hole then open the co2 valve all the way resulting in liquid co2, then to dump the liquid on a pyrex and letting the co2 evaporate out.
Second method (Seems more reasonable)
Closed loop system using two 20lb co2 tanks one empty, one full. They said you need to make a pressure secure contraption that has a valve that you can open on the bottom to vent off extract along with some co2 while its pressurized. So looking at the set up from left to right it would be
full co2 tank ---> connected to built contraption ----> connected to empty tank
-opening the full tank wide open then slightly opening the empty tank to keep high pressure.
First method to me is unreasonable because co2 is only a liquid under pressure right? So there would be no liquid to dump once you stop adding co2 into the mason jar because it will equal out to atmosphere pressure when you try to dump it right? Second method is too much trouble as you need to build some shit that can stand pressure which seems dangerous. Is co2 extractions unreasonable? Or is there some merit to it?
