Do plants always drink less and fade before harvest?

My plant is almost ready for harvest, but the leaves are still a dark vibrant green. It still drinks about a gallon a day. Should I wait for a fade to start before chopping her? Been feeding plain water for a week

for flushing you need to run i'd say at least 3x the volume of the pot (15g water in a 5g pot) thru at least 3 times to "flush" the nutrients out of the medium so it cannablizes stored nutrients in the leaves. it sounds like your medium still had too much fertilizer so the plants didn't need to eat itself. maybe start with 2 weeks next time and for the first 3 waterings flush it hard and let it dry out again. also strains can fade differently than others. some turn lighter some turn darker. it also depends what types of fertilizer you were using to begin with (synthetic salts, organic, supersoil etc)

you could take it longer if you think it might fade or just harvest whenever the trichomes are the maturity you want and know for next time. sup to you.

I thought that flushing as such was discouraged by most on here and that plain water feedings was the recommended method.

Maybe it needs another week. There are still some white hairs
the way you flush really depends on the way you feed and the way you prefer your finished product, it's all situational, just do whatever works for you. i like to harvest at 25%+ amber trichomes

I see some strains slow down a day or so between watering during the last week.

And I like to keep them green til harvest for best results in flavor and potency after cure.

But not all strains comply. I taper off feedings to weaker solutions during ripening according to plants needs and reactions.

Trichomes are Tried true Method, Leeching's also important, some strains and different conditions cause yellowing and exc.
