do i really need a filter

i am setting up a room and i have a 6 inch exhaust system and i was wondering how important is a filter.

depends, it eliminates odors, is your exhaust leading to where people will smell it?? its up to u how important it is

if you can afford it buy it! it will help to muffle the high velocity fans

i still havent made up my mind of where i am going to run it. its ether going to my attic or outside. but i am not to worried about the smell

The filter is all about odor. If you're not worried about visitors or neighbors smelling the plants, i don't think you need a filter. Unless noise is an issue, but if odor isn't and issue, noise probably isn't either.

i had another ? if you exhaust into the attic is it going to heat the house

My concern with exhasting into the attic is that the humid air introduced into the attic can cause decay to the roof timbers, over time of course.

I don't know if I'm right but I figure if i'm venting out of my roof and not anywhere near the neighbours windows no smells should really come down. hot air rises and all that.

Do not just vent it to the attic if you get winter were you live. Trust me on this one. I had rain in my family room because I did exactly that. My wife is not happy about that one. VV

if you have nieghbors get a filter, my friend lives in thde country and uses no filters and you can catch a wiff of his house way before you get there

get a filter... everything in your house will reek after a while.

Get a filter or if someone gets a whiff you lose your entire crop get a fine and maybe go to jail.......
