do i need something at the bottomof the rockwool

hi to all i wanted to know when i use the rockwool do in need gravel at the bottom of the net basket or not?

i am using a hydro machine that i built using a sytrofoam top with net pots hanging down in to a fish tank with a air stone in the hydro solution. please help...right now i have no gravel or rocks in the bottom and i am worried about the rockwool soaking up too much of the solution and killing the plant!

You could put a litle perlite or some clay pellets but you need nothing.

so as long as the airstone is putting out alot of air into the nutes i will be ok? it just seems like the rockwool has absorbed a lot of nutes but this is my first time growing so i am still learning everyday.

I use soil so i don't want to give a wrong answer someone else will have to verify.

hey bangers999, i am using a hydro system and i am not using clay balls right now, do you think i need to add some or do you think i will be ok with just the rockwool?

Yes you do need to put the rockwool into something as the rockwool will deteriorate and fall apart soon.
If you can't afford to buy anything like clay balls just get some pebbles or river rocks to put under and around the rockwool. Make it level to the edges of the wool, not over.

It will not deteriorate. Years of growing in Rock Wool, never once had one deteriorate.

LOL big time, why dont we all get together and do one big fuck of batch of shit and retire. way to much info for this keen green newbi grower, head must be fried, ok lets agree to differ, some people do use some people dont. if the rockwool falls apart you got told, lol, lets debate, balls/soil or NOTHING the vote gets it, what do you do ? help the guy out, i would prefer to use clay balls.
