Do I have too many lights? (4'x8'--2, 1000 W HPS)

For my first two grows I had a 4'x4'x7' grow tent. I grew under a 600 W HPS light. It was pretty awesome!

Now I have a 4 ft x 8 ft tent. I bought 2, 1000 W HPS lights with digital ballasts as an improvement.

Someone mentioned this is going to be too much light for the plants.

My room is climate controlled, and I"m going to vent out the heat. I figure I could just do the hand test to make sure the light isn't baking my plants.

Any ideas or input on this?

As long as the temp stays ok, id say go for it. Should bring u some killer buds!
I myself have a similar size tent (if i get the ft to m right) a 3m x 1.5m and run 3x600 hps, they just love it!

I don't think you can have enough light, as long as you can control the heat- which I DOUBT you can. You'll need at least an 8" exhaust, maybe a 10". If you have an portable a/c unit inside, then you'll be fine too. Keep the ballasts outside the tent will help too. But I think you are understating the amount of heat generated in a limited space such as yours........I use two 1000 watters in a 15 X 12 room, with 2 exhaust systems and often struggle controlling he heat, especially in the summer.

Sounds perfect. Enough light you don't have to have it right on top so canopy temps can be held down easier. Go big to grow big with lights and air handling equipment. Good luck.

im using a 1000w in a 1/2m by 2 metre tent and the results are always great..the more light the better as long as u maintain the
temp its fine..keep going
