Do I Have to Use Oven for Oil?

Thinking about making tincture for vape pen using vegetable glycerin. I've seen a few videos and it looks like the basic idea is to put the mixture in a sealed jar and let it heat in a pot of water for a while.

My question is regarding the need to heat flowers prior to adding the flowers to glycerin and mixing in jar. One video says that flowers should be put in the oven for a bit to activate flowers, but in another video they just put the flowers straight into the mixture and start boiling.

Is it necessary to "activate" flowers in the oven prior? Will it become active when heated in the jar? I'd hate to over do it in the oven and if it makes no difference I'd rather skip that step. Please help.

I live in Washington state and have a medical license.

Or you could put the VG and the flower in a jar for 2 mths . Final product comes out way better then cooking tincture

If you are going to vape it then you don't have to decarboxylate it first. The heat from your vape pen will decarb it. If you are going to use the glycerin tincture in edibles, then you might want to decarboxylate in the oven first. It is a matter of preference. Some people like the high from eating raw THC-a and others prefer the oven pretreated THC w/o the '-a' carboxyl group. You probably already have read about that too. Let us know in two months, how it turned out.

Enjoy
