We have sobriety check points all over the UP. These cops are such pricks up here that they get deer to jump right directly at your car to see how you react. It has taken me a few 'practice' runs to get used to this concept. Hopefully I will get a patient that does autobody work.

One time, most of the way north on that Seney Stretch, I had to slam my brakes on and I just missed the first deer as it ran across in front of me. The problem is, where there's one there's more (usually) and Next, I had to split-second Gun-It to try to clear deer number two that ended up impacting my rear passenger side quarter panel. Not sure now what I felt worse about the car or the deer. Actually I do remember and I felt horrible!!

I did wonder then if I had not been holding that coffee in my left hand the whole time without spilling... If that would have made a difference, I doubt it but I felt like shit. That is the only deer I've ever hit accidentally. One time I was eye to eye with a large standing (injured) buck, literally a few feet away. That was another, more up close n personal, extreme animal road encounter!

what was this thread about...

...having a joint rolled in your glovebox for when shit like this happens! I think it is a good idea and I appreciate them looking out for me like that. I really don't mind keeping meds on me though. It is more convenient. I have no problem doing it their way also.

my problem with this is my patients have debilitating headaches that are not cured by any normal medications they have been prescribed but they puff a joint and can continue on with their day of work, just like they would take a pill and continue on. however there isnt an outcry for medication users to stop driving on their meds. theres a warning stating not to drive until you are used to the effects.
