Do carbon filters actually work pretty good or what?

I live in an apartment, but want to grow a couple of plants and am just wondering how well carbon filters work. It's not even really an apartment, its a house that has been turned into two apartments. So the heater takes air from down here. That stinky air would be all around the house. Need a solution.

Thanks in advance.

You need to seal the room, and vent to outside with the carbon filter. If you set up the room, with more air going OUT of the room than INTO the room, then, in theory, the smell should not spread too much. That will keep any air seeping into the room, not out of it.

carbon filters work great. the question you need to be concerned with is how sealed is your grow room? If stinky air leaks it leaks and doesn't go through the carbon filter which kinda voids its effect.

I built a carbon filter and I got it in my grow and I have no smell. I have it blown out the window, it isnt tioghtly sealed or anything, its just pointed at the open window, except at night I close my window and the air just blows around in my room, but I dont notice any smell.

I use a charcoal filter in my tent, making sure it's always on and that it is running at a higher cfm than my intake...keeps a negative pressure in tent....works great for me....after a year of using the same one 24/0, it still works quite well even with 6-8 VERY ripe plants...
