This may be a stupid question, but im either going to buy whole new light or maybe its just the bulb. but lately my light gets so hot running 12/12 that it will burn you touching the housing. its an old bulb but only used twice so maybe 4 months of use. reason i ask is if its just the bulb ill buy new one but if its the whole unit im scrapping it and getting another. its a Hortilux hps 400w bulb i just dont ever remember it getting this hot using it in the past. any way thoughts?

it is in a air cooled room but i just thought it was hotter then normal like maybe it was bad unit or just bulb, or maybe im tripping and retarded for touching it lol

I imagine an older bulb would run slightly cooler as it is not converting as much electrical energy into light and thus heat.

Well over time the intensity of lights start to diminish,so in theory if it doesn't put out the same amount of light then it shouldn't be hotter, but these lights get hot that's why they sell cool tubes and if your ventilation isn't good enough it gets hotter.I would notice hotter heats in the summer vs the winter.
