DJ Shorts Blueberry

I thought it would be a great story to document one of the best known breeders work live and in full color. I have learned a great deal from DJ's writings but I have had a very hard time locating a tasty Blueberry female and I am hoping to change that. I am not looking for super potency or heavy resin production but out of a strain thats been worked for almost 15 years I do expect to find a Blueberry female esp at 175$ a pack.

8 seeds looked great but 2 were kinda white and would have not made it through our sorting process. So I started 6 of the best looking seeds.

So lets look at the Breeder details so we will know what were hoping for.

Sex : Regular
Type : Indica, Sativa, Indica / Sativa, Mostly indica
Flowering : Photoperiod Genetics : Mostly Indica
Flowering Time : Medium Outdoor Harvest : N/A
Height : Medium THC Level : Medium
Characteristics : It produces a notable and pleasantly euphoric high of the highest quality
DJ Short Blueberry was developed from different new genetic lines, genetics that are unique to Europe. Not only Blueberry, but also Blue Velvet and Flo are developed from totally new genetics. These seed strains are of the highest quality and have not been grown in Europe before.
DJ Short Blueberry is a mostly Indica (80% Indica, 20%Sativa) strain, that dates to the late 1970`s. A large producer under optimum conditions. The Blueberry is a dense and stout plant with red, purple and finally blue hues, that usually cure to a lavender blue. The finished product has a very fruity aroma and taste of blueberry. It's cannabis seeds produce a notable and pleasantly euphoric high of the highest quality and is very long lasting. Medium to large calyxes. DJ Short Blueberry has a long shelf life, stores well over a long period.

4 of the six seeds came up within 3 days but two never opened at all.

I am sub'd. I am a fan of DJ's work also. I have a cross with his flo in it but blueberry was my next buy. I am interested to see what a talented grower can do with these.

When you top a plant early it can almost stunt the growth for a short time but once the plants recover they form really nice bushes.

One of the 4 was a runt so it was killed so that a 50% ratio not what I was hoping for but I have found elites in my gear starting 3 seeds lets see how these do.

Thats how I do it

Next up Transplanted.

Three quick questions ??? 1. Where did you get DJ's gear, witch seedbank ? 2. Will you be topping them again or just one time ? 3. Aproximately how old are those girl's from germination to the last picture ?.......... Just trying to get an idea how much it stunts the groth when you topp that soon. Thanks!

I'm running a perpetual right now with joey weed's version of BB. It's supposedly an F2 of DJ Short's BB. I've been very happy with it so far but it's not a huge producer. Great smoke though.:eyesmoke:

Nice read. I run DJs Blueberry as well. Its very nice smoke. Started it a couple of years ago as an outdoor grow, before I knew about pheno searching or much about cloning. Had a couple of nice phenos, a couple of so so phenos and one that was just plain a mutant. Managed to keep a cutting of one of the good phenos and she is still running. The high is very much like DJs description. Very nute sensitive and mine do better with just water.

Hey sub I really like the JC dom Qleaner. Thinking that's my favorite of your strains so far. Nice lemon flavor, extremely potent, and when I smoke it I get sooooo happy!! A very up high. Treated myself to a couple of oz of it this past harvest :)

hey sub, have you noticed any of the "deformed/twisted" leaf type problems that sometimes show with blueberry? i've grown out d.p. blueberry a couple times. never had any germ problems. but there was "always" deformity. also, are those seedlings in some kind of modified super soil mix?
thanks

Its called whorled phyllotaxy and its extremely common in Blueberry it comes from the genetic mutations caused by Colchine which was used in the breeding of Blueberry or at least thats what I have always heard.

Forgive me for asking, it's probably none of my business, but what point are you trying to make? (BB is a pretty tasty point to make IMO).:weed:

hey doc, i believe sub is a pretty busy guy, so don't expect any answers to specific questions. as you can see from my post above. he explained about "whorled phyllotaxy," which i appreciate. but he didn't respond to the actual 2 questions.

Sikly I start all my seedlings and clones in straight Roots soil

Why I am growing this strain is kind of a silly reason. many people look up to DJ and consider him one of the true real breeders around including myself but just because someones spent 15 years on one strain dosn't make it a great product.
I am detailing what is found in a pack of 175$ seeds and how close the females come to the descriptions. My experience tells me that this strain is just as unstable as most cannabis seeds on the market today so we will see.

All I want is a plant that actually smells and taste like Blueberry nothing more.
