I germinated three DJS blueberries that got planted into red beer cups last night. I've never grown it before, and I am THRILLED. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure! I hope you'll keep posting pics as they mature.

I've read an awful lot on here about pheno hunting with BB. Due to the limited number of beans I had, I won't be doing that so much myself, but anything anybody has to say about what newcomers to the BB world ought to be looking for (pre-harvest) will be much appreciated! All the BB crosses I have experience with have been kinda fussy about nutrient levels, and virtually everything else, so it's no shocker to hear that it's a fussy one...but some of you seem like goldmines of info about growing BB, a famously odd duck, so my earballs are wide open for anything you'd care to share about it.

Like: what do you look for in a male? Are there any physical characteristics other than general vigor that scream "winner" or "loser" to you before you've even gotten to the harvesting of pollen? Have you run across any females that were the total package? I mean great flavor, beauty and (acceptably decent) yield? Or do they tend to be more gourmet, high-quality-smoke-but-low-yielding plants? (Not that there's anything wrong with that)

I don't mean to hijack this or anything, I'm real new to forums and their etiquette, but I have SO many questions for you guys.
