thats just an air cooled hood...but i could put a lens in it...but that would be a waste of time...i will soon be converting to a CMH lamp...and to get all the uvb out of the light you can its best to not have any lens on it...and it runs a lot cooler then a HPS lamp will.so for now since im growing in kinda a grow tent/closet hybrid...i have the best of both worlds...going to try just using a passive intake to start....my grow area is roughly 2x3x5 31.5 cubic foot. should only need about 10.5 cfm to replace all the air in 3 minutes...then i add on another 5% of cfm for each lamp i have. im running a 105 CFM active exhaust thats being vented into cabinets on the other side of the room thats going to have a few odor control options in there...thinking of building a diy carbon filter. i will also have another fan inside the grow area blowing over the canopy and under the light. temps with all the cfl's in there its staying really low...some nights as low as 58f hottest it gets lights on is around 73f. but im setting it all up now and can always improve on the setup as needed. i like to keep things simple and reliable.

looks like my laptop finally took its last shit on me. i think its way past the point of repair now. looks like i get to go and get a new laptop nefore i can do anymore pic updates...im on SP's comuter right now.i can do updats on hers, but it has a card reader that does not work...so no pics just yet. i will still be taking pics of the grow room as im working on like im doing now...just might take me a few days to get the pics loaded here....and other places....speking of which i will soon be adding a link in my sig for the "other place" so people will know what im talking about.

can't wait to see what these cmh's can do first hand with sugar production- i don't really care about quantity as much and i think thats why i am digging all the info the dudes at the other site are spittin.... either way and all rambling aside i cant wait to see what you guy's got up your sleeves, esp cause youll have your cmh up and running before me.....(doh!) you just gonna run the hps bulb untill the cmh comes in?
anyway, i'll probably be catching up with you more on the other site than here, i still pop in here from time to time- but alas the I.Q of this site has begun dropping at such an exponential rate i just can't take shit seriously on here anymore....

just for these plants im running the hps...then when these finish i will be upgrading to the CMH bulb...i will be happy just having one setup that i can use from start to finish...make this easier and faster.
and as for the other site...i will be on there a lot more then here for the same reasons you mentioned. im going to finish this journnal and this current grow then everything will be moved over there.

got a new probably temp laptop...nice 19 inch HP...should keep up with what i need it for for the time being...then ill have to upgrade this thing. much faster and larger then my last one...but its an HP...so who knows how long that will last.
but back to normal...and back to building. went to lowes and picked up a few more thing today. new vents for my intake and exhaust...and got a 1x2 for the door and side wall of the tent...had some stuff here..but i want everything in the box brand new...eve the wood im using to frame it.

i might still do updates here from time to time..but thise place has ran its course for me...full of kids, trolls, and bad info. most of the talent and fun people have already split to the other site...i know at least 200+ have jumped over. and seeing as im a mod there...i can help keep all the bullshit we see here out of there.
also if anyone is interested about the new place let me know in PM...out of respect for this site im not going to just publish and drop links in here about another site...would not want anyone doing that there...so i wont do it here.

damn...im gone for a day and got a flood of emails asking about the new site....trying to get caught up right now. still working on setting up this new computer.
now on to the fun stuff. i spent all last night getting the panda film ready to go in...all my pieces are cut and i got the back wall of the grow area done. its a bitch trying to cut 5'' sections out of a 10 foot square piece thats 30-40" wide....and all in a room thats 12x12..with furniture...wasnt fun. but its all cut and going in soon. spent the whole day out today and just now getting started on it. took me much longer to get the poly cut then i figured...but now the easy part. have to mount the poly, setup up the exhaust..and hang that nifty fucking HPS in there and im done.
going to do pics piece by piece and ill upload them all when im finished...i hope tonight..but fuck im tired.

nice work man!! it made me laugh a little though... I could just picture this huge roll of shinny stuff covering the entire living room... climbing over furniture trying not to cut yourself with scissors... shinny shit making all kinds of noise and all the time you don't want to tear it!!! i know it probably wasn't that bad but it was a nice visual for me!

that was exactly how it went down....but it was me and SP wearing socks sliding around on this shit. but i got the really good really thick black white poly from HTG...didnt make any noise and was pretty hard to cut let alone tear it. but it was shiny as hell...and as of right now the biggest part is done. all the panda film is up. wires and timers mounted nice and tight. all i have to do tomorrow is put the bulb in and wait for the timers.....when that sucker turns on we are going to be staring at it like a kid watching fireworks for the first time. been waiting for this exact setup...im giddy like a school girl...well not really...but you all get the idea.

i hope so...im going to be pissed if we pull the same type of harvests that we have been. busted my ass getting the closet setup...dont think i fall into the "ghetto" growing anymore...im still 100% DIY but im just doing it with better equipment.

been kinda slacking on updates lately...been busy as hell...but i have been taking pics of course...thought id toss a few in here now....not going to just drop this thread so it stays going till at least harvest...also im making plans for a dry/cure chamber. had some panda film left over and have had a few ideas about something to help slow dry time but speed up cure...more as it comes to that as i start putting it together...but here is some current pics of the ladies in their new home.
