DIY with Quantum Boards

Quite simple ....

Then power + and - on either end of board .... Type A driver will not have dimmer wires .
They can be adjusted via pot on top but I would just power and play !
Just sick!

I forgot the dim it before first fire. Nearly took my head off.

I'm going to make it the centerpiece, dethroning that old cob. 18in Tire and probably at half power.20180128_185637-1-1204x405.jpg

Am I too cheap today? The best deal I find there is about 8 bucks, before shipping, for a 14 AWG cable. I had in mind like 3-5US for each cable.

3-5 bucks will get you smaller awg wires but they cannot carry heavy/constant loads. 8-12 bucks for 14-12 awg cord, go 12 awg. You can buy cable and put your own plugs on them for a good price, but you pay for a lot of cable that you are not going to use right away. Super nice to be able to put any plug on a cable and go though

A little side action ....

Up potted the Mephisto TOOF Decay ( first true leaves showing ) ....
5 gallon for her. The Fruita di Venus got a grow bag container, as it grows around a medium size - it always starts with twisty growth , then kind of goes as it should after a couple weeks. It's an ok smoke but will press this one or make an infusion.
It tends to hit better as an edible or drops.

So dropped some beans in my skull shotglass ( Candy Amnesia - candy dream X amnesia haze ) ..... These are first batch seeds from a previous grow - all FEMMY made Candy pollen dusted on amnesia haze auto. The Candy is a regular mostly with some variety in pheno. So I popped a bunch ( hydrate ) before root plugging them.

So hoping for something fire out of it.

Next I have been treating with CS - the Tiresas mister has been refilled with CS from another source , just like to keep that little sprayer. Used a styrofoam cup as a SPRAY COLLAR to control spray ... It's only been a couple days but I usual see things changing in around 10 days normally. Quantums are going to keep the stock shelves full. I like experimenting with my autos .... Yes there has been some shit failures - Tangerine Dream ... Never liked it . It was a horrible candidate for seeding.

So I am getting pollen making and then seed the current strains.

So with 4 qb288 and 2 HLG-320H-2100B drivers I wire 2 boards to each driver in series? Would it matter if I wired in parallel? Then I could wire both drivers to use the same potentiometer and wall plug? I just want to be sure I do this right.

Wire driver positive to "board A" positive, bring a new wire from board A negative over to board b positive, attach a new wire to board B negative and connect to driver negative. Repeat for your other 2 boards. Go buy 2 more boards and fix them in the middle ( maybe)

Not sure on the 1 plug deal. The 2 drivers in my (garbage) mars 300 run on 1 plug, would be handy. Can wire multiple of your drivers in a 220v junction box kinda deal. Idk if it's actually called a junction box, but I saw pictures so I guess it happened. I have personally wired in 2 qb 288 in series though.

That's how I've got them wired right now. I don't have a potentiometer yet, and am waiting until I know for sure about 2 drivers wired to one plug.
I've ordered 2 more boards, but was planning on putting them in a separate 2x4 tent. I might put all 6 in the 4x4 running with these 2 drivers, but then I'd have to buy more lights for the other tent.

You can wire two drivers together in a junction box like @The Loafter said. Just remember you can only put 1800 watts of power on a 15 amp circuit, or 2400 on a 20 amp circuit. The two drivers together would use ~650 watts

I'm not sure what you refer to by "linking drivers". My recommendation is to watch some of LEDGardeners or Growmau5's YouTube videos. There are a couple with driver fundamentals you probably need to understand before you proceed
Hi again Jedi what i meant by linking drivers is that you can use 1 dimmer for 2 drivers as well as have 1 plug to plug them both in.(if i read correctly :)

I have given up waiting for the qb128 boards to come back in stock for my veg room and am going with t5 lights I was just wondering what t5 setup you guys/gals would recommend for me to have for
10 clones,2 mothers and a clone humidity dome?
I am planning a perpetual scrog with clones in humidity dome 1 month ,veg 1 month and flower 2 months ( is there a need for mothers or do i just take clones off veg b4 moving to flower?
My options (i think im on track with correct bulbs etc?)
2 foot 2X55W LAMP T5 TUBE = 110 watts
2 foot 4X55W LAMP T5 TUBE = 220 watts
4 foot (1200x300x70mm) 4 tubes of 54 watts each = 216 watts
4 foot (1200x600x70mm) 8 tubes of 54 watts each = 432 watts
All 6500k?
Any recommendations on a humidity clone dome ? are some easier to use than others?
What size pots will i need for clones in veg? is 1 month veg enough?
My flower pots are 4 gallon was planning on having 10 plants under 4 x qb288s driven in pairs with hlg2100b with dimmer
Sorry about the 1000 questions just trying to spend wisely
If any 1 has any advice please let me know
Thanks AGAIN :)

T5 are cool but still a waste of power imo. My veg space is lit up by Cree XM-L2’s, its more light than T5’s, cooler & less power used.

You know this is a diy with quantum boards thread right? It's kinda rude to ask random unrelated questions I'm sure you can find your answer somewhere else.

I, like Budz, having been running my 4 board QB 304 light non stop for just over a year, I have a sigle QB 304 that was the first I bought, when they first were released to the public, it too has run almost non stop for (1.5 maybe 2 ??? ) years at about 120 watts!

No, I wouldn't worry about these, well made boards!

Thanks Chef. That's what I was thinking originally. Now I have to figure out how to wire it all up, possibly with a potentiometer on the 4 boards in the 4x4. Do I need to worry at all about heat and board life running the qb288 at max power?

you could probably DIY one for $650 or so, depending what heatsink, driver, etc with most parts from HLG, too bad they don't stock drivers, it would save on shipping. The HLG 500 is aimed at commercial growers, and individuals who have no time or desire to diy one.

sorry, a little new here. i meant if you DIY a QB, i figure youre modeling it off a specific type or equivalent type of pre-built QB like the HLG550 (one that i am eyeing).

That one costs 1050$.

How much would a DIY equivalent cost?

That's the gist of my question - wasnt sure which one you are modeling/price vs price of your DIY project :)
