DIY with Quantum Boards

I'm thinking of making a fel lights usin g cree cobs of varying wavelengths using old 2x4ft fluorescent light bodies to mount the cobs to.put driver on top.does that sound reasonable?I'm figuring that it will give me plenty of space for cobs.so more light penetration and good coverage cause of size.opinions?

Hi ,
I've ordered stuff without any knowledge .

2x QB120 + HLG100h24a + sonoff pow

Parallel, serie ? Fan ? Wire ? Heatsink ? At this point don't know what do to .

Thanks

Parallel wiring, no fan or heatsink needed and 20-22 gauge solid core wire.
Thanks.
Driver 100-24 ; that's meant if my led can take 100w , it deliver 2400ma ? Right ?

So in parallel , each panel gonna take ≈50w for deliver ≈1200ma ? In that case , is my build underpowered ?

Whats that 2 cobs and a driver?you'll need more parts.go on you tube and search build your own led grow light and you'll see videos and get complete parts list.even where to get best price.this is what i

I just got 4 more QB120s-Ordered on Thursday got them today! Impressed at how fast they came HLG just seems to be getting better and better and since I am averaging 1.5 gpw right now I am VERY HAPPY!
What area do they cover ? What wattage running at ? Height ?

I think you will get it. I can't take a pic now (company) but I am more even but a little more sparse. I defoliate a lot more but usually keep my lower branches if they are close to the top. I grow a lot of different strains and use coir so I am a little inconsistent.
This what im working with from a side view.

If I can pull 8oz per which ive hit those #'s on my first 2x2 scrog id be at 1.75gpw

What’s your setup for getting 1.5 gpw?
Scrog I run kind of a perpetual garden, two plants under each light, dual slate QBs (I have 2 qb288s and 4 qb304s plus a few cob set ups and I run far red at the end of the cycle). I have a total of 11 light stations and once a week I usually pull two plants. Here is an old pic of 1/2 of one scrog net (the other plant was like two weeks behind so I cut it out, this plant yielded 184 grams -I was only expecting 150 so I was happy the other plant should be about 140 grams, not bad for a 240 watt power supply. The boards on this one are QB288s. This strain is a big bud hybrid by a friend of mine that we call Child Support 20171024_211947.jpg

Is that wet?also that's total for all grows(if I'm right it's2).either way that's ok if you r price per gram breaks down to be cheap in your area.I am growing for meds for multiple health problems.FUCK BIG PHARMA.EVERYTHING USED TO BE A SCRIPT WHEN I GOT HURT...ANYWAY...once i find a strain or 2 that works for my issues (hopefully first 2 grown)lol.but when I get to what works I'm good.but also in your case was your lp+ or so good quality/dense/frosty bud.if not then great work but you've still got some stuff to perfect.hey, nobody, grows cup quality on their first try..sounds like you've got the touch bro.you'll learn forever.and no 2 plants are exactly the same like people.keep that uhh n mind.keep killin it bro.what country you in.I'm us and we've got so many new products every day it seems.plant sex test kit.know thru dna if male/female...leds going crazy.I'm gonna build my own per room size..(save alot.get exactly the coverage and penetration you need and choose your wavelengths as some veg in 1+ roome and flower in 1+ rooms seperately)..I'm sure they'll be outdated soon but as long as my ser-up works and produces I'm happy.need enough medicine for me not supplying a dispensary.lol.I figure a 2 veg small(6x6) veg rooms and a 8x10 flower room.also clone/seedling room-eventually with my med mothers in it.it's like 6x8 or so..anyway #growyourown...

Looks and sounds like your doing ok.do you use nutes and r.o.water etc?...do you run co2 to feed plants.increase yeild by 20-40 percent.your room size?when you harvest do you inspect root ball to see how good roots are?what type of pots you use?aeration matters a ton.like I said that's a few th .uk ngs I'd be ✔ and working with..one schpiel I've heard is yeild=light+grower talent.obviously there's more to it but that kind of sumerized his deal.sounds pretty reasonable as a general [email protected] little arrogant but very informative video's.like I say learn all you can and use what works for you.

All right! Got my QB120s installed in the cab. Later on, I'll build an adjustable rack for them, right now, they are fixed in place by screws. DAMN they are bright! They are running on a cheapo 5 amp, 24V driver from ebay, cost $16 shipped. 1 4000k and 1 3000k. Not choice, but what I could get lol! They'll work fine. This lady has been under about 60 watts of QB 288 until today.

Thats one of my Blue Dragon in a 1 quart yogurt container. The others are a revegging ducksfoot and a Rif Mountain hash plant.

Thge CFL is for lighting as I work in the cab, saves being blinded.......lol

That's a great idea alright. I have tried it. My old T5 fixtures now have new life. The body of the old fluorescent fixture makes a much better heatsink with strips or panels. It is too thin for cobs.

lol?

Is this serious or joking?

Serious.what's so crazy about it.most of the diy led light builds are made with heavy aluminum angle and plate.so the used fixture body is free and dissipates heat great.it's light and it's 2ft x 4ft so your not getting 9x18 in light?what's your thinking as to why it's silly?

I use Gen Hydro Maxigrow and Maxibloom I add in a little epsom salt. I use Koolbloom for the finish (plus some leftover Overdrive for the final two weeks. I grow in coir usually in 5 gal buckets I am slow upgrading to 8 gal tubs, I drill lots of side holes in them in order to have plenty of O2 and drainage, I hand water on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday. I have a very open room so I don't use CO2. I do not use RO water I used to Ph the water but now with the nutes I use they seem to stay in the correct range. Thanks for the growboss tip

Dude not to criticize but those plants could yield a hell of a lot more with bigger pots and longer veg times. I don't know what your situation is but if you can get the plants a little larger before budding you will be very happy

I say the sheet metal on a T5 fixture is to thin to dissipate the concentrated heat of a cob well. But give it a shot. Let us know how much heat droop you get. I could be wrong. Show us some pics! Better yet, start your own thread. We're in the QB thread.

LOL! Ohh this is not a normal setup. I use this cab for breeding and I keep the plants small. I just grew this one out for giggles. I also run 2 4'x4' tents using QBS and cobs all from NGL/HLG. This cab is also used for whatever weird experiments I want to do. I migh scrog a photo period in here one day just for giggles. I'm going to be making fem seed from a couple of my strains in here shortly.

And don't you want to see how this little pot finishes? :bigjoint:

oh thats cool, i thought that was your total grow area and was a bit confused on what you were trying to accomplish, happy growing.
