DIY with Quantum Boards

...I do believe though that I've received quite a bit more than what I've dished out...
Most people do feel that way in an argument, and you can bet the other side feels the same.

Honestly, man, you'd get much further if you toned down the shots at HLG. You talk as if they're nefarious, villainous con-artists, and that doesn't jive with other people's experiences. Have you e-mailed Stephen or Robin a civil question about your issues with their advertising? Have you politely asked them about their claims? Not as an opportunity to nail them to the wall and "expose" them, but as a chance to simply set the record straight, to everyone's mutual benefit?

I understand. I've probably been a bit too aggressive. I mean, yeah, I suppose I could do that, but we're on their thread. Why don't they just chime in? Where are they?

The truth is there isn't really anything for them to say, and I'm really not trying to sound like a dick with that. Its just...They know what I'm saying. Its not like they've got some folder in their files with documents that would disprove the stuff I've posted here. Its all factual. They really have that data on their product pages. They really claim its a replacement for 1000w SE HPS. I really tested 1000w SE HPS with high quality components in stable conditions.

Edit:
All I'm saying is the claims they've made do not line up with the data they've posted. This is just a factual observation which I can and have supported. The only variable which can't really be 'proven', is whether or not my data collected for 1000w SE HPS is skewed. But remember, I took those tests hoping the score would be low, because I was trying to succeed it, and I did. Now we're actually testing the stuff and the results are lining up with the data.

Do numbers really tell everything tho? I have seen a few people who have switched from 1k we hps to the 550 or 600 and they love it. I totally think they should have spaced the boards out more tho. That’s why I got the 260 kits tho. You only complaint with them seems to be the 550. You know they have much more to offer than that right? I would bet most of us using HLG aren’t using their 550 lol

People really get heated about these lights!!! All I want to say is that I love my qb!!! Im so glad I got one!!! Getting ready to get 2 more asap!!!
I got the Hlg 300 which is basically a 260 watt kit with a fancy machined aluminium heatsink..
I put it in the 2x2 running at 160 watts. I need a 3x3 to utilize its power.. I won with the 135 kit at 90 watts..
You have it mounted all the way up? At the top i mean...

No, they don't, but I can't show you the other stuff right now unfortunately (which would help to back up the numbers). If you look at the info I've posted objectively though, you'll be able to understand what I'm talking about. The reason I believe people are happy is because of the spectrum improvement...We aren't anywhere near the point we want to be in that area yet, so I can't comment much further on that. The photon output differences are what they are though...The numbers do tell you everything you need to know about that area. You really can't deny which one has lesser photon output.

I know they have other products, but I think there are fundamental flaws within configuring those products into a final design. I don't think its the answer, but that is my opinion.

Yep. I made that mistake in this thread. Emotional mind is the enemy.

B for dimming. Try Mouser.

Tell me the specs you're looking for I'll see if I can shoot you a link.

Not sure what all the fuss is about.

This is commerce.

If HLG says the 550 is a 1000w HID replacement, then that is exactly what it is.

Nothing posted here to the contrary can refute that.

Again, commerce.

The consumers will decide for themselves.

BTW, the HID replacement marketing is not limited light density or coverage.

HIDs are replaced with 550s for a number of reason, obviously advantageous to a number of experienced consumers.

Makes us say stupid things in the heat of the moment that we end up regretting later

I have a cabinet that im putting together that is 38x20 1/2x52,and i want to put 2 qb288 3000k lights in it... I plan on putting 2-4 plants in there... I want to be able to have the power i need when I need it, so as im sure you know, thats where the need for a dimmer control comes in...

Thank you for making sense out of nonsense...

I guess I forgot to share this photo of how I mounted my drivers.
For whoever asked, they're all meanwell.
I wired 2 320-C2800B drivers to each power cord and dimmer. So 1 plug turns on 8 lights and 1 dimmer dims those 8 lights. Just need a few clips to clean some of the wires up.

Thats heavy man!!!

I guess this one shows it best. I used some 14/2 romex wire to run from the drivers to the board. I ran a strip down each set and used wagos to put in each board. Gave the wire extra slack so I can put my lights way down if I want to.

Do I know what I'm talking about now?
Maybe. I'll try to get a dimmer for my hlg600 so I can take some par readings at 600w and 500w I also have the apogee with the same sensor it won't be in a 4x4 it's 2 of them in a 4x8. The 600h has even worse spread but fills out the space just fine my best growth is at the corners

I don't grow currently, I design lighting systems and collaborate directly with my growers. I have a thread on here with a grow of mine if you'd like to go find that (not the one in my sig). I have people who do the growing for me because I'm in an illegal state. I have my card and am ready when the laws hit.

But what does that have to do with your ludicrous idea for a scientific experiment? And why is there a handicap on the nutrients you're allowed to use? It is truly shocking how far people can drift from what science actually is after being away from school for some years.
Illegal state then you deal with dudes who have a small closet grows.

I dealt with whiny little bitches in Colorado who were natives and "master growers." They were lucky if they pulled 2 lb a light. When we did 3 lb a light on cheezy SE HPS, low ceilings and avg nutes they became jealous little bitches. They were incapable of doing honest business either. Most of them probably did not finish high school and after "growing weed for 20 years" they are still f**king useless. They can't even grow decent weed.

Then you have guys and girls who do the work, are respectful and share knowledge like many good people posting here,

QB's do a great job, the guys at HLG and Growers Lights do are straight up to deal with and have helped a lot of people. You might pay a few extra bucks but it is worth it. Anyone using the name Quantum Boards who is not HLG and stealing their efforts is a little bitch,
