There is some weeks to go but wanted to show how well the Quantums are putting frost on the buds without adding any supplemental UV. The ducks foot was something ( I should have took cuttings from ) , oh well.
Frosty buds come more from genetics than they do from which light you use. This bud is currently under a 400w hps solis tek lamp. I mean I could improve upon it a little and next round it will be a little better but even with a extra bump of UV it won't be that much better.

Now I'm not a die hard HID guy and I've been wanting to build a COB set up and also a quantum board set up but I don't expect my quality of herb to differ. From what I heard and read I might see better colors and sharper terps but I'm just doing it to get with the times. New toys are always cool. Cheers and good growing

I have personally seen different results from different fixtures with strains I have had for more then twenty years.

The density from the qb is unrealistic.
One of those things it won’t matter till someone sees it for themselves

I've seen different results from different light sources as well but overall quality of weed is typically always the same. The different lights may produce denser buds or more plentiful harvest but as long as the light source is designed for growing plants it should be good enough to grow some sticky icky.

Of course there will always be difference of opinions but I'm just saying me, personally, I could grow fire ass weed with cfls, hps, mh, led etc... As I mentioned above I am stoked to try out led growing just because I want to see if terp production is really improved. If I can make my weed taste better than it already is then I'm all about that, just I'm not holding my breath. Cheers

whew! finally read this entire thread, think i was sold on qb's by page 2. along the way i picked up 4 qb304 and 2 288's. still waiting to assemble the last 2, but here we are with 600w of cxb3590 and 1120 qb 304! turned off 2kw of hps in the process. next up: new wall coverings.
currently running platinum OG and amnesia haze, feeding themselves with a blumat system.

So I barely pulled 1gpw with my first QB grow. Not sure what went wrong. If it was the temps low 70s or the fact I didnt change out the water the whole grow or the half assed scrog.

Buds smell and look good. But kinda disappointed with the #s.

For a first time grow under new lighting, and considering the temp issues you've had, I'd say your results were totally respectable, man.

and that "yield" is subjective
Some people will weigh anything with trichomes on it and call it yield
Use these measurements as a you vs you thing, they don't mean much as a you vs another grower.
veg time is a big factor too if you veg over 3 weeks imo you gpw number would be useless

1 g/w is nothing to be ashamed of at all.
I think I just got the idea id yield a lot more. Was basing my 4x4 scrog off a different strain I yielded 8oz off a 2x2 under a 600w. Figured a 4x4 would do 4x as much, but this strain packs a lot different than the other. I wish I took a cut of that darkstar strain.

Why do you think if you got 8oz from a 2x2 you would quadruple that in a space that is only twice larger?

I only got 3/4 of a pound in my 4x4 last run... it was my first run tho lol. Hopefully I get at least 1lb this run. Then, work my way up.

Ummm.... 4x4 is 16 square feet. 2x2 is 4 square feet. That's 4 times larger by area..

But for the OP - to quadruple yield in 4 times the space, you need 4 times the light as well.
