ok i want to weatherproof/lightproof this cab
its a black and decker utility cabinet 68" x 26 1/2" x 14 3/4"
light leaks on the front and sides of the the doors
block the light from the inside too...
only using cfls and leds so my temps are not a problem
im using this for my AG grow only place that i had to put them when we moved
i have those reflectors for a car windsheild to reflect heat/light it stays below 80
i have an exhaust fan from a old air hockey table it takes all the heat away from the inside right now i dont have a intake fan but there is so much space between the doors it allows alot of passive air flow....

I would try the sponge rolls that have adhesive on one side that is used for weather proofing prime entry doors. Get that at your local home center.

Okay...sounds like you need to do some modifying...Put a crossbeam in between the two doors on the inside of the cabinet, so that they close over the crossbeam. Then weather-strip that, and the sides of the doors.

As for the fans...you should make a cowling out of a cardboard box (just a simple box that goes over your fan on the top/side of the cabinet)

The cardboard box should be a little bit bigger than your fan...make a hole on the side or top, and attach some dryer-vent-hosing onto that (about 12" length) and have it curve down around the side or back of the cabinet. This will ensure that your fan can still exhaust, but it re-directs the light so much, and disperses it inside of the box and tubing. You can even line the inside of the cardboard box with some foam to make a sort of silencer/muffler. Make sure to seal the box, vent hosing, etc to get an airtight exhaust.

I did this exact same thing with my cab and i have no more light leaks.

Just make sure to put some screen/hepa fabric over the vent holes to keep out dust and bugs.

Hey i hope this helps.....Sometimes this light baffle can inhibit the airflow...But it works well. The one with the foam is more efficient.lightbaffle2.JPGlightbaffle.JPG

It can be used for exhaust, or intake.
