Need a screen for this guy:

I'm still pretty new to my personal grow, though I've spent some time helping my friends with theirs. They are pretty skilled, but not really creative, and they use no real training methods other than basic pruning with a little LST.

I was interested in doing a SCROG, because my plan was to do a low number plants, and grow them large. I take no real credit for this design because I spent a day searching through a ton of different scrog designs and adapted from other designs to what was best for my needs and what I had available locally.

What You'll need:

Plastic Poultry Fence: $12 Home Depot. I used 4' wide by 25' long, 1" sections.

1/2 PVC: sold in 10' for about $2, plus some elbows and Tee's (about $4 total for the contractor pack of 10 each). I actually used CPVC which is a little thinner. Its higher rated for drinking water and stuff, but its overall thinner. I thought it might be a litter easier to work with, I honestly don't think its gonna make a difference. If you are real OCD (I am) you might think you would get better light reflection off of the white regular PVC. I will probably use normal white PVC when I make another one of these.

For my Stakes I had some insulation supports lying around: FREE! You can probably use whatever, maybe even actually STAKES.

Zip ties to attach the netting
Maybe a drill to attach the stakes
I used a Dremel Saw to cut my PVC, but CPVC cuts with a knife, regular PVP will cut with any hand saw pretty easy.
Snips, good scissors, or whatever to cut your poultry netting and zip ties.

I don't have many pics, but from the picture you should be able to get a pretty good idea.

-I use 15 Gallon Pots with an 18" Diameter, so I cut my 2 long pieces of PVC 18".
-I then the the peices that go on the side with the 2 legs. 7.5" x 4 pcs, and connected them to the Tees and the elbows to make my square-ish frame.
-I placed my frame on the poultry netting to see how much I would need, then cut it out, and attached it to the PVC with zip ties, then trimmed the zip ties.
-I made my 1" Poultry netting into 2" netting by cutting out the middles of every other square
-For the 2 legs, I straighted up the branches of my plant and measures the height of the lowest bud zone I was confident I would be keeping. For me it came to about 13"
-In each Leg about 1" up i drilled a hole all the way through for my stakes. Then I put the stakes halfway through to holes and bent them so I could stab them into the dirt.

-I then attached all the pieces (make sure to jam them together tight if you are not glueing them) and stabbed it into my dirt over my plant.

A couple things to point out:
-CPVC seems to not stay together as well as normal pvc without glue. I didn't want to glue mine, because I wanted as much versatility as possible to make changes.
-I am confident I'll have to raise the height of this at some point, so I plan to use pipe couplers and add peices to the joints as needed to raise it. Pipe is cheap, you could keep scraps around of any size to change this up.
-The 2 support legs seemed to hold up pretty well, but it wasn't great as I use a pretty loose soil. I used a couple pieces of bamboo to kinda move my branches under the screen where I wanted them, and they also provided extra support for my frame. 3' bamboo stakes were like 25pcs for $3 at English Gardens. I think Home Depot has them too.
IMAG0268.jpg

-I also assuming I'm going to need to add to the width of my screen at some point. I would have started wider, but as you can see floor space is kinda limited under my single 1k watt MH bulb. My plan is to add maybe 6-8" wide of screen to the sides of my current screen attached with zip ties. I'll keep it flat and tight with cut pcs of my bamboo.

Here is a side view:
IMAG0257.jpg I'll do some moving to get those side branches up in the screen. I'll eventually trim a tiny bit of the underbrush as well.

Now when it's time, I can put these guys on wheels and roll them to the flower room for 12/12.

I guess that is all until I can get the other guys under screens also. I post updates for as long as the post lets me when I think of stuff.

I'd love to hear people's thoughts, and if they have any changes they would make I still need to make 4 more in the next couple days.

In moving your branches around to try and get them even in your screen, inevitably you will break a branch. Like I did :(. Here is how I put a "band-aid" on the situation:

IMAG0258.jpg

I'm pretty clumsy and I split it pretty good. I made a bandage out of a disposable shop towe I had lying around:

And then bandaged my poor girl up, should should be stronger than ever by the time its time to move to flower.
