LOL (I just said this in my journal :)).. no ppm, next grow or two... not really worried about it

And I KNOW a ppm is great to have, but sorry, just not high on my list (for those who are about to pounce on me for not having one)

Yeah bro, I just followed your advice... every 10 - 14 days I'll switch out, and just give the recommended nute dosage:

Then I'll ad some hydrogen peroxide (for white roots and added O2).. test the pH (which is usually HIGH from the tap), then lower it to 5.8-6.0...

During the 10-14 days, every day or two I'll check pH and water level, if the water level is low, I'll just top off with some tap, sometimes throw in a little aquarium dechlorinator

Nice link bro.thats pretty tight man. its really easy to grow plants without one but having one allows people to grow plants to there maximum potential.

Yea. i use the GH-3 part too. and i just followed the that chart. i checked the ppm every so often just to see how much the plants where getting but i really didnt need it. and for GH-3 part soil grow i didnt have any PH problems. didnt even bother checking the ph

This system works great... Until you have plants that are 7 weeks into flowering and you have to do a res change... Pain in the ass!

Heres mine from 1 week ago...

One thing you could potentially do is place a secondary ball valve infront of the feed to the lines, and do a dump that way with your pump changing the res for you. I'll have to get ahold of an editor to be able to show exactly what I mean. I know in stink's layout you have a ball valve behind the pump connection so as to fill the res, but what if you also placed one infront of the pump connection and just closed the one feeding to the lines (the new ball valve) and opened the one to fill the res with the garden hose or whatever type you are using, and then turning the pump on and since the line in is closed it would have to find the path of least resistance, and then it would just purge itself for you? Just an idea, hope it is helpful.

Do you find that you have to clean out the tub during flower at anytime or do you just let it go and clean after harvest without any problems?

With buckets i have a clean one ready to go during every water change.

With tubs and a small pump i havent had any problems with using the same tub thruout a grow. However i do drain. fill and drain a couple times during water changes. thats especially how handy the pumps come in as well

water hose-------> tub and pump to------> drain all working at the same time works well to for quick and effective cleaning.

i make sure the hose is at the bottom and getting the nutes that are stuck on the bottom in the process u will know when its clean. ur water in the drain will be clear.

I also clean out every water change.... theres a lot of sediment that can be had from the bottom of the tub..

Quick ? I was just looking at advanced nutrients website . My math might be wrong but it seems like with a 20 gallon res. It would cost about 100 dollars to fill it with nutes . Is that how much it costs to run these systems???

just buy some more totes...when it comes time to do nute change just fill the extra tub mix your nutes...pull out the old tube and switch the lid over to the tote with the new nutes...walla presto....less pain in the ass now
