DIY: Home Made CO2 Guide

Do you believe you have to have the jar sealed?

In the past I just have a bucket put sugar water yeast and put the top of bucket even with plant. Always worked for me. I read they must be anerobic to produce CO2. I dont buy this, but then I am no master chemist either. Seems to me co2 will be released in just a bowl type thing. kinda like baking soda and a vinigar drip.

I gave up on co2 as it always seemed more hassle per increase and there are many other ways to achieve big honking buds.

I have also used flour instead of sugar when it was cheaper.

My question is would it be best to just set the bottle on the ground like recommended or run a hose from the bottle to a circulating fan to help disperse the co2??

You can do either, but i like to do both :bigjoint:

I put one amongst the canopy and one with a hose to the circulating fan.. :)

didn't have enough room in my current grow space for a 2 l so i mixed it in a 2 l and put it in a 1 pt container also cant currentlty make my way to a brewer or anyplace that sells anything like that so i used a bendy straw and sum string to train the straw into a u joint basicly same concept though the u prevents the gas from ecscapeing intill enough pressure builds works pretty good and i also used the rubber stopper outa a vinager vase ty alot this is the kinda shit i hope to find in forums simple and cheap which is gr8 oh and u shld specify what kinda yest u used i actly used bread yest not the quick rise shit and its doing its job shitty thing is it came in singles so it came up to 2.09 just for 3 packets of 1 table spoon :P

Pretty cool way to get low volume for a closet grow, but, I'm afraid with ventilation for a little larger grow with a few more plants you would have to set up an array of generators to effect on a noticable scale. Really good concept though. Works kind of like a 5 gallon bucket of compost with a vented lid. Just keep turning your compost and adding new material and you gert organic soil ammendment and co2 at the same time. as you said set the bucket up on a stand so the co2 floats down for the benefit of the babies and they should get something from it, provided the temps are right and the ventilation is ducted, or your generated co2 wanders a lot.

i have unlimited access to medical gasses. i can get all the co2 and oxygen i want. would it be worth me getting a big ass tank of co2 and leaving it in my grow room. i could hook up a regulator that only released like 2 to 4 litres per minute into the air. could i just leave a tank in the room on a low setting. would it help.

You are probably the luckiest grower amongst us.. That wud b an awesome idea, just don't get caught removing it from ur work..

I don't dispute that CO2 enrichment can help a plants growth,
but no-one has said if it helps to create more trichomes.

Adding extra weight is all right, if you want to sell your plants by weight -
but for those that don't it would seem to be pointless.

I have used yeast/sugar CO2 enrichment and noticed no difference to the trichomes -
what is your experience for those of you who have done both?

I've never grown the same strain with & without Co2, so I can't say on the level of trichomes. The main benefit of the Co2 is that it is a ripening agent, so u will complete ur flowering cycle sooner.

It wudn b overkill, I actually think it wud do it quite nicely. I'd say get ur 400 as close as possible, just don't burn ur canopy.
Stick ur hand over ur canopy, and if it's uncomfortably hot, then ur light is too close.

Going to use this on my first grow. Just something extra I am going to do to help is wrap the bottles in duct tape to seal out the light.

I do this on a bit larger scale for my room I use a 5 gallon bucket With a custom blower lid with timer Fan on it The co2 gathers in the container(heavier than air) for about 15min then 2 timed fans push it out and up between my plants.. it shuts off on a timer with my lights too.. You can see it here in the beginning http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fqHufgG-6Ro

I just read some of the posts on this thread so sorry if I am repeating something someone else asked. I used tubing that is used for aquariums instead of the airlock in my set-up. Seems OK but who knows how well it works, just figure it makes sense. Also my grow area is not heated so I grow in 50F temps 24/7, it works, marijuana is a hardy plant.

I use a couple of Co2 fire extinguishers . Just wait till they're about a foot tall and once a nite give ur growroom a little spray , as they start getting bigger increase the amount of sprays and the results will be there to see !! I also noticed that it trimmed some time off flowering .
