nice yield now you just have to keep the plant healthy easy on the pk maybe
not made for horticulture huh more so then cobs just check out the big names like ushio philips and hortilux find the info yourself
such a waste of time arguing with obviouslyinvested people who are completelybiased slinging things you knownothingabout same fools that were selling red and blue lights and promising half the electric is now promising the best lighting ever surprisesurprise go find another sucker you did succeed at wasting my time good job but maybe someone will learn something
had you sold these light to the lettuce people you would of really fucked them up good job. let me guess you'd tell them its a nute problem

i'm not even saying they don't grow okay just not that great either lol like i said most ends up in the trash so there goes the yield thing. people have standards you know you will find out with time.
when you try to cut down people calling them a noob make sure you look in the mirror with your monotone bud

Coming from both sides of the lighting argument (and @churchhaze I'm sure remembers many "discussions" between him, realstyles and myself) about led/hps. If I was going to talk about both lights I figured I should have experience with both & I will say that I managed to grow some impressively frosty buds from under 400W of cob lighting. I dont have too much cash into my light so Im not vested and I was the first to argue about led comparing to hps over a year ago. They each hold a place in my grow rooms now and feel well justified in my small build's cost with the led's as well as my investment into the HPS I still use . To say that cob led put off frostless crumble weed may be a bit of a stretch though at least in my experience. I have 2 grows under my belt so far with the 400W cob led's and I'm happy with the quality I achieved from both of them.

i can appreciate that perspective thanks for the thoughts and pictures. I didn't say frostless i did say less resinous if I remember right but things doget heated here. Things can look very nice on the outside with bud but that does not always give the fullstory. I have never grown gorilla glue myself but you can see the many ways differentlighting affects the way it grows I don't need to repeatithere other then the nicest examples I have seen were not under LED lighting just as an example of why I say COB is not ultimate with better representations beinggrown under something else a perfect example really

a random plant growing not a selected clone or anything just really goodlighting

COB's have become more widespread over the last year especially with the premade kits for people to do easy DIY builds without that much time invested or research.. basically people throwing money at a problem trying to "grow the dankest"... this is inevitably going to lead to people posting the results of their money chucking failures, which would look even worse if they had used other technology. basically its not the light, its the grower....

COB's are the real deal. its not just about spectrum or yield.. you have to consider the exponential growth of this industry, the thousands of popup warehouses across the country trying to cash in on legal weed..electrical inefficacy, carbon footprints etc... the grass roots background of cannabis (in america) should encourage everyone to be more in touch with not just doing well and getting high, but doing good and healing..while not using soon to be obsolete technology because "thats what 9 out of 10 growers are doing"... sure your hps lights will grow some undeniably respectable buds, and plenty of it (good yield) BUT cob's will put out a better product with at least comparable yields and a significantly reduced electrical demand... since switching to cob's i'm averaging around 1.15-1.25 GPW on manicured finished buds... closer to 1.5 when i count trim and extract...i do living organic soil with only water and compost/sprouted seed teas. running these lights on a lower amperage with more coverage can produce even higher yields but thats a different discussion... i really dont get into the exact numbers or all the technical this and that or driver effeciency or blah blah... i've got results in my thread and posts that speak for themselves. frosty as the snowman himself and most definitely resinous...

Adding UV light for the last week or two seems to help. Even used for just for the last 3 days, which I did on my last batch, seemed to improve potency. I've found that regular CFLs also help the LED light, so I use warm white CFLs with them. Then when it gets to the late stages I replace the warm whites with UVB 150 lizards, about 25% of the wattage of the LED, two 26w in a half square meter chamber, not even right down on them but about 18" above. It's all aluminum foil on the top parts of the chamber and mylar on the rest though, so it gets reflected around pretty well. Really brings out the trichs.

The COB LED by itself is not as good as with the warm whites and later the UVBs. But then, my COBs are just 70 CRI 4000k so not the best COB spectrum available. I always unplug the UV lights before opening the chamber though. Could definitely feel it on the eyes when I didn't.

it does look good the pic wasn't the easiest to make out what was going on not saying mine is the shit but it did grow nicely alright I'm out this is beyond what I was getting at anyway
The only argument I had was other lighting has its advantages

I haven't noticed any more or less resin with cobs bud vs HPS. I've heard people claim that weed grown under cobs have a fuller terpene profile, but there isn't much evidence to support this. There is also no evidence to suggest the opposite. It's all just made up bullshit. No offense to either side, but both sides make statements about quality that are very hard to actually back up. The only thing for sure is that both products are weed.
Best way I found to back it up is have ironlabs test it if it's available. In Michigan there are several ironlabs drops they'll give you the full breakdown. I may fire up my hps and my LEDs make sure the wattage is equivalent. Make sure both grows are the same across the board use some clones of mine and do everything the exact same only difference would be the light.

Does anyone have any problems with uvb bulbs stressing plants and causing them to herm out? I have two feminized insane in the membrane from ethos, and they are about three weeks into flower. The larger of the two is throwing banana pods randomly. All the tops closest to the uv bulb have curled leaves and what not. Light is all the way up and I have stopped using the uv. Because of my height issue, I figured using the pure veg plus uv wouldn’t fry them but I was wrong. I am contemplating hacking the one that is herming out but that is the larger of the two and I really don’t want to lose the yield but also do t want seeds. What do u guys think?841DE0EC-4340-4A42-ABE6-EEB0FF47B4B2.jpeg
Sorry not trying to hijack anyone’s thread
