Hi folk, I'm looking to design a stelthy cabinet to start some seeds off. My idea was to make a conti board cabinet 4ft long 3.5ft high and 2ft wide. I have a 400w and 600w blast and cool tube ar my disposal but unsure if this is a bit over kill. Can anyone advise me of best design and what the best idea for lighting? I might buy an led if heat would be an issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

If you can regulate the heat use the 600! Both is possible!

400w and 600w HPS ballast or switchable?

Maybe veg with a 400w MH and flower with 600w HPS?

What advice are you needing. You will need a carbon filter for stealth.

My new space is going to be the same size except taller. Read about LST, Mainlining, and some other articles to keep your plant down low. You can easilly fit 4-5 plants in your space. Height will be difficult but doable.

buy another cabinet and stick it on top,

then cut out the floors on both

and use like a grow tent lol (jk)

use a closet like 3x4 or some such

a tiny cab like above needs practice

good luck

True, keeping plants down low, especially that low can be a challenge. Most pots are what 12" there or about. Think if your canopy is 12" that's 24" that leaves 18" of clearance if the light is plastered to the ceiling of the cabinet. Hard space to work with.

Even with a cool tube I think heat may still be an issue in a space that small 3.5 ft ceiling is virtually no space at all like the above pots will take a foot away and so will the tube you will only have a foot to work with young plants may get bleached at that distance and plus a 400 would not reach the sides been so close and the 600 would def cause heat issues even if it is cooled I would just go with CFL in your situation easier cheaper more manageable.
