Distance between the plant and the light?

I have one plant and I have germinated it and planted it. I planted it in the jiffy 7 little soil things. And I have a sylvania spot grow light that has 120Watts and has 1600 lumens and 2850K. Do I need a different light?? If so , wat kind? My plant has came up and has 4 leaves and is about 1 1/2 inches tall. I don't know how far I should have it away from the light. It's just Reggie/swag. And how often do I need to water it?

is it a cfl? cfls can b as close as 1/2 in from the plant. if light is too far away the plant's stem will become abnormally enlongated. this is not good, but can easily be fixed when you replant it by burying the stem a lil bit. but the most basic and general rule of thumb about light distance is to put your hand in between the light and the plant and test the temp on the back of your hand. you can also put the thermometer in between and check the temp. temps shouldn't b above 85F. but if it is cfl put it as close to the plant without touching it with the bulb. then check the next day to see if it has any burned tips. if so back it up a lil bit. damage shouldn't be severe.

Also if it is CFL it would be optimal to have a 5000k or 6500k for vegging and the lower K like the one you have for flower, but it is a good idea to mix the spectrum.
