Direct sunlight needed?

How many hours of direct sunlight do my plants need to receive? Growing in a wide open space is impractical, so I must grow around cover, but at certain hours of the day trees are blocking my sun. What's the general consensus on direct/indirect light?

the more the better obviously but you can get decent buds with 5-6 hours direct. some strains require more, some you can get away with 5 and filtered light. but if you can get 6 or more things will be good for you.

4-5 direct hrs a day is what ive always read,

Also more shade around means less watering, so try to give it shade in the late after noon by plantin approeratly (east side of a tree near the trunk works good)

I'm going to grow some in a place that only gets about 3 hours of direct sunlight right now, and about 3 or so of filtered. But, the direct sunlight is from noon til around 3pm so it will be intense. I believe that as the sun's position changes as the solstice approaches, it will get a couple more, but I'm not sure.

I'll let you know how it turns out. It's just such a good spot as far as access and security, I've got to try.

Go for it. I've grown in situation similar to that. You can grow stoney buds but they are going to be small. If that's the only way for you to grow. Some bud are better than no buds.

I had actually scouted a better spot as far as direct sunlight goes, but I don't feel like it is very secure. You get zero buds if someone finds your plants.

Fact is, the more sunlight you get, the more open the space and the higher the risk that someone will find them.

If 5-6 will do, most of my plants should fair just fine. They all should at the very least get 4 hours of intense light when the sun is the highest, and most of them should receive between 5-6 hours directly. They're scattered all over, so some have it better than others.

wat state u in?

Last year the lack of light caused my plants to start flowering a little earlier than normal and also dragged out the flowering process. M buds also didnt get as big or dense and they were getting 4-5 hours of direct light. I would just aim to do anything you can to increase the amount of light they will receive even if it takes some time cause it will be worth it

Great state of GA.

Im growing on my balcony, I get about 4 hours of direct sunlight, 4 weeks in so far no problems, but I haven't hit the flowering stage yet, so we will see, and also I live pretty much on the equator so the sun is a little stronger I believe.. so maybe, it makes up for something who knows..
