If every state was to have a direct democracy, how would we go about putting restrictions on frivolous bills, and who would be responsible for making the decision that a bill is in fact frivolous?
You make a great point. The only thing I would ever want from a direct democracy would be limited government. Other than that, most of the "people" are too stupid to figure out what is best for them. Why would anyone want direct democracy? Has the desiring person never taken a stroll through this forum? My goodness, these are the people who actually care about or have some knowledge of current events--look at how ignorant, irrational, and illogical people are constantly being, and how petty--"Obama rules!" "Republicans suck!" "You're a banking cabal Jew!" Why would we want to give meaningful power to an even larger group of people?
Of course, this is why politicians always seem so wacky to us. You think it's easy to con tens of millions of ignorant and/or moronic people into voting for you? I say be happy they're lying to us, since it keeps people out of the trouble they would otherwise start if promises were actually kept.
Why stop there, I say we vote that a Baskin Robbins must be built on every street corner and give away all its ice cream with $100 bill wrapped around the cone.I'd vote for free Ice Cream, everyday!
such erotic imagery. cnThe Perpetual Vote on is or is there not a Santa....Clauses and Riders still open.
