Hey all! Currently I have an unfinished Basement with a 24 feet x 8 feet section i wish to use for hydro grow, I am wondering the best way to divide it off to obtain the best setup... for flower, I currently have a 400w hps and i am going to purchase another 400 or 600 watt but would like to stay at or under 1000w in flower room, for veg i've got a 400w MH with cfl supplementation and a clone box with a single t5.

I was planning on doing the DIY aerorails posted on this site.. but am open to options.. also I think light movers are in order.. please offer suggestions and advise on options thanks a ton guys!

For my own education, why hydro? I admit it's really neat but seems too far over my head. I was thinking that with good soil and nutes and making sure I have enough watts and distribution of all the light spectrums, including UV(if possible), I would be doing all I need to. Does hydro give it a real bump in addition to those things?

I picked hydro for my first grow because it is easy to fix problems and also hydro provides a much faster grow rate then in soil. Also it seems like to me that hydro is more fun and hands on.... even though most of the stuff is on timers. I have noticed that newbies even me at first kinda steer clear of hydro cause they are almost intimidated by it when it is actually really easy just seems complicated. go to you tube and in the search type in Mr green or I grow green great video on hydroponics that explains it all and makes it a little more easy to understand.

What kind of problems would be easier to fix than soil; and by grow rate you mean they get bigger faster and yields are better?

I'm going to look at the youtube vids.

24 x 8 with under a 1000 watts u goin to have a huge werk area and a small grow area comparatively. 600 is good in like a 3x3 area 1000 is like 4x4. i dont use 400 i forget its prob like 2x2. and go vertical
