Deisel Berry auto finishing faster than expected!! Leaving for vacation

This was my first grow and I ended up with just one plant (Diesel Berry auto) and in a nut shell I am leaving to go on vacation on July 7th for 4 or 5 days. Well the plant has been flowering since June 1st or so and I figured that it wouldn't be finished till mid July.

I just bought a microscope to check the plants readiness and the top half is already to be harvested and the lower portion is very close to my surprise... I hadn't started flushing because of this and just flushed it last night, but I wanted have a chance to flush for as long as possible at this point. I heard people say you need to not water it for a couple days before you harvest but I'm leaving sat morning so I need to make the most of the short time I have.

This plant has been extremely fast and all the rules pertaining to others seem cut in half time wise. So I'm assuming only water from now on but do I need to stop watering a certain amount of time before?

Also I'm nervous about having the plant drying without me home to monitor it as I've never harvested before. I basically want to keep the plant fresh and not hurt the process while gone so I can't pick up where I left off when I get back. Should I take the whole plant ( it's small and compact ) and hang it upside down in a dark room with a fan keeping the air moving?


The wife plans these vacations and of course it's right when I need to be here...

Well, you can always start the harvest now with the top part of the plant that's already ready and then harvest the other part right before you leave. As far as drying goes, it's not really a problem if you'll be gone only for 4 or 5 days. Make sure you have them hanging in a room with no light and low humidity and you're fine. It's not like you have to check on them every day. However, the key is no light and low humidity. You probably don't want any fans or air currents blowing on them, since you won't be in a rush to dry them and that can cause premature drying and it lowers the quality in my opinion in the end. Let it dry naturally...as for the whole plant versus cuttings, that's a whole 'nother story. I've always dried by hanging the individual buds but I've seen where people hang the whole plant. As long as you started the flushing process, you should be good to go...it'll be 11th hour, but I don't think you have much to sweat.

Thanks for the info! I'm nervous because my house is not air conditioned (I'm in RI) and the temperatures are supposed to be in the high 80's while I'm gone. The humidity had been really high lately so it may stay high and I would put the plant in the basement to deal with the heat but there is mold issues down there.

So I need to keep it in my bedroom more then likely but it can get very warm in there with out air circulation. Maybe a fan just for circulation of the air in the room? Without it the temps could get high as well as humidity. I can get it nice and dark and run a line across for the plant to hang on.

If I harvest the top part of the plant a few days early it won't hurt the rest of the buds development? I was looking close today and the lower buds are actually not that far behind the top.. Maybe 3 or 4 days max.

I flushed the plant again today but do I need to stop watering before harvesting? Or does that not matter? The way this strain has been developing super fast I'm sure I should be able to get away with a shorter flush.

This plant consumed a lot of water as well as more ferts than I was anticipating. And overall it was a very easy plant to grow! It stayed very short, uniform and compact. I really had issues when germinating the seeds as well as lighting issues early on so it may have gotten larger otherwise. I killed 2 of he 3 seeds I started with.. Wish I could go back and do it again!

I actually ordered Berry Ryder seeds but was sent Deisel Berry instead by mistake.. I figured the DB cost more anyway so I would just try that. The buds look really good! Can't wait to try it.

u flush the plant then let it droop and perk back up ......after that u want to give it like day or 2 of light to let the soil and the plant suck up everything left (5 to 7 days total) .....then 48 to 72 hours of darkness to help the last of the resin glands form and bulk up before u cut ...........u want to cut as close to the bottom of the stalk ground as u can

when u cut it u want the humity to be around 50%...... 65% is to high 35% to low .................when u hang it u want to have trimed off the fan leaves turn it up side down and hang her make sure not touching anything leave from 3 to 5 days after then u make your hash trimmings make her look pretty then u take the buds put in a jar .......every 12 hours u open the jar for 20 mins then shut it do this for 2 to 3 weeks and u have justed cut hung and cured your smoke


if u are only going away for 5 to 7 days flush the plant one more time good and then set the lights up on a time when u come home do the darkness and cut
mold smell in the basement get a ozone gen will clear it up ............humity for the dry part u can use a carboard box the inside will wick some of it off help lower it but if it is bad u need a dehumitifer..........u can look into tabacoo drying and curing along with this too to get a better understanding ....how i did it

anything above 80 is bad for plant thc degrades faster ........the cut time is up to u if the things are milky go for it if u want engery buzz and stone........... if couch lock is what u want then let them amber up some then cut

They are pretty much all milky now so that's why I started freaking. All the reading I've done says it takes a lot longer to mature but this plant went from showing sex to this in 30 days... Then my wife books a vacation in atlantic city for this Saturday coming up which I won't return from till either Tuesday or wed. It's my first plant so I'm still iffy about a lot so I didn't want to screw it up because I did something wrong now.

I have a little CFL grow cardboard box I made for supplemental light and seedlings. Ideally I would like to keep it in there on timer till I get back but the speed at which this plant is maturing is so fast I'm afraid the degeneration will have gone too far by the time I get home.

The humidity will be the biggest issue if I cut before I leave as its very humid here now. Is there any way to just put the plant on hold for a few days? If I leave it in my grow box with just a few hours of light a day while I'm gone would that keep it in a similar state or should I just cut and hang before I leave?

well if u want a engery buzz high .....u might think about cutting it right before u leave and hooking in one of those little dehumifiers u know they suck out half a gallon of water and auto shut off walmart target 40 to 60 bucks ............since u are not going to be home .....u could cut it then string a line up in a bathroom tub/shower turn on the venting fan to help and then plug in dehumifier and shut the door open when u get back ...............if u do hang in there rem to put a clean peice of glass on the bottom or a new cookie sheet anything falls or drips u capture


if u over dry the stuff there ae methods of fixing oldest one i know is to take dry stuff put in tuberware and add in some organe peels there is a slow exchange throw the peel out after like 3 to 5 days repeat

since it is milk now u have about 3 4 days then amber sets in and it keeps going untill the cure is done .....some of the bud enhancers have preserving factors like bud candy ( according to some ppl have not confirmed it myself )

If it's your first grow and the others didn't make it? I would keep things as they are. if there are no issues now then don't give your self the worry while away.

Imo If away for four day s I would heavily water before I left and look to harvest when I'm back. If it's your 1st grow then you want to be part of the drying n curing. Trust me this is the hardest part of the grow and will take some practice.

Yea ill post some later tonight. I'm going to have to cut it before I leave unfortunately.. It is just moving too fast to wait I feel! Ideally I would have cut it today but I wanted to flush it for another couple days. I did trim some of the fan leaves last week to get the bottom buds more light just so you know when I post pics later. It's a very short nicely shaped little strain. Perfect for people starting out or who want small plants that finish very fast!!

Thanks for the bathroom suggestion but my bathroom s upstairs and it gets super hot up there in the summer! I have a dehumidifier but I've been hearing people say not to use them. Ill have to see ho the weather is before I leave I guess.

why not just flush it until you leave
if your only going to be gone a week water it good before you leave put it on a timer for like 4 hours a day and chop it when you come back
it wont hurt it much
and have you let plants run a week over before ?
and you can go by trich's like all the other fancy pants
or you can go by what the plant is telling you if the fans have not yellowed and got crunchy then it can still go longer
the fans yellow this is the sign to start flushing
because about 2 weeks later the tips of the water leaves yellow and this is usually when there done regardless of what the trichs say
